Start Time: 9:21PM EST (CBS)
Network and Announcers: Jim Nantz, Clark Kellogg

Detroit is economically depressed apparently.

....And Jerome Bettis lives there. How fitting that his hometown has yet another point to be drilled into our brains ad naseum.

What's the over/under on shots of Magic Johnson in the crowd? Can it possibly approach Fox's shots of bands during BCS games?

Nice start for Clark: "I didn't think I could get more excited but my am amped up".

Clark being amped up could be a good thing or a bad thing.

Roy appeared to be mesmerized by Tracy Wolfson's cleavage in that interview.

Clark: "You're in elusive, elite company when you get that 2nd one".

And...our first Magic sighting.

Too bad Billy Packer is not here anymore telling us the game is over. Nantz is probably rooting for a Tiger Masters.

Anyone else have a huge green line down the right edge of the screen?

this may make the duke-unlv title game in 1990 look like a close game.

No huge green line on the screen. Although there is a huge green skidmark posing as a basketball team tonight.

55 points in the first half? There have been entire Big 10 games where teams haven't hit that as the over.

It's only fitting that this tournament produces the largest halftime lead in a championship game.

And while he seems to have helped Jim Nantz, Clark Kellogg is not a very good analyst and in my opinion, is not deserving of the lead role. Then again, though, neither was Billy Packer and look at how long he held that position.

This game is like last night's Wrestlemania Main Event. Very Anti-climatic.

About the only thing left to wait for is Nantz's scripted winning call. I'm sure he was practicing his delivery for it during halftime

I just want to fast-forward to Nantz' call and "One Shining Moment". Seriously.

Any thoughts on the final scripted call???

"Carolina has powdered the Green State Blue tonight! Tar Heels win the title in 2009."

Nice CSI reference by Nantz...not.

Adam said...
Apr 6, 2009, 10:53:00 PM

I'm probably going to be totally wrong about it, but I think he might make reference to the 1979 title game. Isn't North Carolina's colors the same as Indiana State's?

Or maybe he was going to make a reference to that if Michigan State won.

Nice segue by Nantz going from his basketball calling voice to getting syrupy to read the Masters promo.

Nantz is getting all of his automotive references out of the way before the game ends, while he's in Detroit. In reference to Spartan fans: They're trying to give some fan-injected fuel, but only getting fumes.

I noticed that too. I thought it was my TV. You had it too? D: It happens when I have my Samsung on JustScan ,but if I have it on 16:9, it fixes it.

Projected, scripted final call from nantz:

Nantz: "March Madness? This. Is. Carolina!!!!!!!"

- would have worked better for an MSU victory, but pretty much interchangeable...

Kind of lackluster on Nantz' part. But I guess that's what you get in a crawl of a game like tonight.

Clark Kellogg?? Get him out of that lead analyst seat. Bring in a Bilas or let Raftery do it.

Adam said...
Apr 6, 2009, 11:53:00 PM

Nantz probably realized there wasn't much of an audience left watching to waste a clever scripted line. Or else I wouldn't be surprised he used that line at some point during the game.

For all the criticism here I did not read anything particularly witty or creative among any of your posts so I think I will listen to Nantz and Kellogg. It is so much easier to criticize than to do. If they bother you so much turn the sound off/down. Better yet go green and log off your computers since this entire blog is a waste of the electrical grid.

So Nantz and Kellogg can only be criticized by those in the field? It is a waste of space (and electricity) for the people who Nantz and Kellogg are targetting to criticize their work?

/Realizes that some people just won't understand and wonders why I even bother with said people.
