Your God Is Not Welcome At The Midwest Regional

Watching Siena take out Ohio State the other night was a extremely entertaining (in more ways than one), but it probably wasn't for one religious fan. Multiple times during the two overtime contest, a camera angle of the Siena bench showed a fan displaying a "John 3:16" sign. Well not everyone appreciated said fans choice of expression. Watch the security on the left around the :12 mark of this clip....

Wow. Now I certainly was distracted by the sign at times (mainly because you could see the guy occasionally while play was going on), but that sort of comes with the territory in College Sports. Actually all Sports for that matter.

The thing I wonder, even though it's highly unlikely, is whether CBS requested the sign's removal. Someone will probably be getting a call or two come Monday.

The dude either had a partner, or was roaming the arena constantly just to get on TV, because when one team shot free throws, there he was.

If you notice, when there's free throws and John 3:16 guy is in the background, the fans behind him are PISSED and I assume calling security, because they are waving and pointing to someone off camera.

My guess would that this guy (or guys) were asked to stop roaming around the arena, stay in their seat and stop blocking people's view.

The NCAA has a blanket ban on signs and banners at the Tournament, which is a shame, because I'd love to see Operation: Scheyerface on the biggest stage.

NCAA regulation. No signs.

Actually, I was in the Metrodome yesterday for the KU-Dayton game, and they weren't getting rid of ALL signs. Security was allowing signs that were positive cheers for your team. Signs that were "CBS" acronyms or had some comment about other teams were banned, as were all non-hoops signs. Maybe that wasn't the right usage of the rule, but that's how they did it. One KU fan had to cut off the bottom of their sign because of the CBS eye, but they were allowed to keep it.

Another interesting NCAA point: They never show replays in the arena. None. I guess so you can't boo anyone.

Lastly, I was told that NCAA won't allow you to have the bottle cap from your Coke Zero so you don't throw it at anyone.

This is a playoff and is lots of fun. Thus, I'll cut the NCAA some slack. Most of these types of "religionists" who try to annoy others with their faith have in the words of Christ, "their reward."

they take away your bottle cap at most stadiums/arenas. buy a bottle of water and they unscrew it right in front of you.
