Tony Kornheiser Thinks A Matt Millen Led Booth Would Be The Best In The Business

Tuesday, January 06, 2009

Tony and Matt Millen have had a long relationship, and even as Millen was destroying the Lions, it was still tough for the PTIer to say anything bad about the guy. Kornheiser thinks so highly of Millen that he said yesterday that a booth that adds him as an analyst would be the best in the business. Even better than the MNF team. Via Fanhouse....

"It's fair to ask the question, 'If you're so smart, why didn't you ever win? But Matt Millen is great on TV. Not good, he's great. The booth that he walks into will become the best booth. Even if he walks over my body and sits in my seat, it's going to become the best. He's just great at it, and in six months or less people will forget."- Tony Kornheiser

I personally enjoy Jaws more, but during some of the later games this season, he started to get on my nerves. Tony is right about one thing though, replacing him with Matt Millen would make the MNF booth infinitely better. Hell you could replace him with Pam Ward, and it would be better. Well maybe not Pam....let's say FOX's Chris Rose.

I enjoyed Kornhiser's radio show, but Tony is not leaving MNF, Speacilly, with the kind of money he is getting paid for it. And he enjoys doung the games wwith Jaws anyway.

Tony's wrong about one thing: People will NEVER forget about what Millen did.

>>>People will NEVER forget about what Millen did.<<<

sure they will. already people seem to forget he won two (three?) super bowl rings and one could argue is a legit hall of fame candidate.

i could go down the list of nfl analysts and ask what they did and they couldn't hold a candle to what millen on the field?

Tony sucks at all that he does, Millen sucks at all that he does.

How can anyone take anything he says about football seriously when, given the opportunity, he unashamedly had the worst performance of any executive in the history of the NFL?

It's incredible.

Has any analyst proven themselves to as big a jackass and fraud than Matt Millen?

Name one. Troy Aikman? Steve Tasker? Dan Fouts?

Joe Theisman. Every single sentense that came out of this nincompoop's mouth, was to show how smart he was and how stupid everyone that was watching that particular game was. I so happy that ESPN got rid of this tool.

In fairness to Millen, running a football team is much different than doing television analysis either in a studio or in a booth.

Now as far as will people forget about what Millen did in Detroit, it's hard to tell. I think Dr. Kornheiser is off with his 6-month assessment, but maybe in 3 years, people will begin to forget, especially if he performs well as a studio analyst/booth analyst.

Will Millen return next year to NBC as a regular analist on SNF? Why not add some more? What about bring back Joe Montana, Bob Trumpy, Merlon Olson and adding the likes of Marcus Allen, George Seifert, and Eric Dickerson? Mike Shanahan is probably looking at doing something next year while out of coaching, why not add him as well? They definitely need more people on that show.

NBC should deop Jerome Bettis and Tiki Barber as son as the season is over, because having them on the pregame show is a waste of air time. NBC should have Cris Collinsowrth and Matt MIllens as their analyst and keep Costas, Patrick adn Olbermann, And from tiem to time when needed bring in Peter King for the latest info.

I guess Anon up there wants the pregame show hosts to look just like him.

Kornheiser likes to joke on PTI about how crappy he is on MNF and about how he's dying to leave the booth.

Yes, ever since Tony joined MNF he has joked after the seson that he stinks so on and so on, but what does he do? Go back to the MNF booth.
