NFL Open Thread - Week 16 Early Games

Sunday, December 21, 2008

(That's LenDale White in the back, looking somewhat out of place.)

Fox gets the doubleheader this week, CBS probably has the best game with the Pittsburgh-Tennessee tilt. Thankfully, I don't have to watch either Oakland or San Francisco this week. I will be happy with watching Norv's sad face as the Buccaneers hopefully put an end to the Chargers' miserable season and give the Broncos the AFC West title.

CBS:

Pittsburgh @ Tennessee - Jim Nantz, Phil Simms
San Diego @ Tampa Bay - Greg Gumbel, Dan Dierdorf
Miami @ Kansas City - Dick Enberg, Randy Cross, Dan Fouts
Cincinnati @ Cleveland - Kevin Harlan, Rich Gannon

Fox:

Arizona @ New England - Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, Tony Siragusa
San Francisco @ St. Louis - Sam Rosen, Tim Ryan
New Orleans @ Detroit - Ron Pitts, Tony Boselli

7 inches of snow in my neck of the woods (about 10 miles from Seattle proper).....but the media thinks I'm retarded.

A reporter banged his microphone against the ground, and said it was ice.

I couldn't believe what I heard.

Anyway, looks like the Cards still can't run the ball.

Michelle Biesner of NFLN is in KC for that game and her water bottle froze (imagine that) in 10 degree weather.

There were two good segments on NFLN's pregame show, they interviewed Charles BArkley about the Auburn coaching situation and he made some good points(dont have video). Also, they had Warren Sapp as Santa Claus, he gave Donovan McNabb a rule book, and a gun belt with holster for Plaxico Burress.

@ S2N, you have to get video of a ref hitting a Rams player with a forearm shiver and knocking the player down. It was great.

Given the media's love for the Patriots, I'm surprised there's no talk of him for MVP

Dude just threw a 71 yard bomb to Antonio Bryant on a rollout for a score.

They just ran an ad for some Nike product where they explained the BCS formula, while showing bunch of football players getting muddy.

They forgot "sportswriters agenda driven popularity contest based on what the team did 30 years ago, and has no reflection of actual current on field performance. Expert analysis used to pimp expert's alma matter for undeserved spot in national title game they lose by 4 TD's."

Uh oh, the Titans stomped on a Terrible Towel. Whenever they meet again--whether it's in the AFC Championship or not--there will be hell to pay. That thing is as sacred in Pittsburgh as the star at Texas stadium. Bad, bad move. You can bet Steelers fans will never forget this.

Anonymous said...
Dec 21, 2008, 4:11:00 PM

And somewhere in that press box in the sky, Myron Cope's saying that of they meet again, he hopes that because they desecrated a sacred symbol, he hopes that someone on the Steelers pays a bounty on the jerk who did that.
