The Apple Does Fall Far From The Sanders' Tree

Thursday, December 11, 2008

I was scouring through some random emails this morning, and came across this impressive run from a High School freshman at Heritage Hall in Oklahoma. The running form looks oddly familiar to a famous ex-NFL Running Back, and see if you can guess before he reaches the endzone and the PA announcer says his name....

Yep. That's Barry Sanders Jr. people. You can expect him in Stillwater in 2013.

Wait, if he's a good running back, shouldn't that mean the apple didn't fall far from the tree?

You won't see him in Stillwater because, like his dad, he will stop playing football after this season.

Is it just me or do a ton of athletes name their children after themselves? Something tells me Barry Jr. won't be going to dad's alma mater, but instead one of the Big Boys (probably Texas or Oklahoma).

Just a thought.

...With the first pick of the 2009 NFL draft, the Lions select Barry Sanders, Jr. Runningback, Heritage Hall.

George Foreman perfected this concept to an art form: Six of his 10 kids are named George or Georgetta.

Perhaps he will be at OK State if the program continues to improve. Gundy has the Pokes on the right track.
