So, Troy Aikman Seemed Rather Unbiased Yesterday

Monday, November 03, 2008

I really didn't expect any different from him during the Cowboys-Giants game, and it was a convincing Giants win, but Troy Aikman seemed rather reserved in and almost pro-Giants during the game on FOX yesterday. Giants fans seem to agree with that sentiment as well. Via the NJ.com....

I've been trolling the Giants Forum this morning, looking for NJ.commers' takes on Aikman during and after the game. After Aikman commented that a roughing penalty called on Giant DE Justin Tuck was a bad call, NJ.commer CaptSensible wrote:

"I've been looking for [aikman] anti-Giant bias. Can't say I've heard any today."

Later in the game, NJ.commer anjuma added:

"Troy being very complimentary"

4545ajd thought that Aikman perhaps was overcompensating Sunday after all the criticism he has received:

"Don't think [Aikman] doesn't know that his bias has been talked about all week long, He is making damn sure that no bias is shining through, at least for this game."
Well there you have it. It was borderline overcompensating, but I think Boomer and the rest of the Football viewing public, actually got their point across. However, FOX does realize that with the Cowboys falling out of playoff contention that they need to find another dog in the fight to pimp the rest of the season. Plus, it's virtually impossible to say anything bad about the Giants at this point. That team is just damn good from top to bottom.

Again, I think Troy is a great announcer, but he just gets caught up in the moment when it comes to the Cowboys. It can't be easy when you gave eleven years and your brain to a team.

New York Giants fans, was Troy Aikman pro-Dallas during Sunday's game? (NJ.com)

This is only an item because The Great White Dope Normy Esiason called Aikman out with his some nonsensical blather. Normy's just a jealous, self-absorbed little toehead.

and why would esiason be jealous when he is getting paid by cbs (westwood one, wfan and cbs) and msg? true he didnt win any rings but he was a very good quarterback and makes plenty of money after football. boomer has always said things that people may be against. its stupid.

This story is up there with SpyGate as the most annoying non-story of the year.

Baby Boomer has always appealed to that third-grade demographic.

Bias aside, why does he have to call every fucking Cowboy game? Is he contractually obligated to do so?

As a Giants fan, I've long thought Aikman was anti-Giants and pro-Cowboys. To give him credit, it's probably hard to NOT be biased for Dallas. I've listened to him dog the Giants for years since he got to the booth, regardless if they were playing Dallas or not. This is OLD news. At least he has been more pro-Giants this season, and whether he is bullshitting or the FOX brass instructed him to give out the credit or he really feels the Giants O-Line is under-appreciated, I'll take it but I could care less if he still has bias towards Dallas because I watch the games at a bar so I don't get most, if any, of the Aikman-Buck banter.

God I am so sick of this. Announcers do not have a bias...unless of course we're talking about Michael Strahan.

This is a non-story, and I don't think Aikman "overcompensated" simply because Boom Boom called him out.

Please. Find something else to talk about. Like this strange love of Gus Johnson.
