Simmons And ESPN Are At Odds Once Again

Monday, November 03, 2008

You'd think by now that someone as popular as Bill Simmons would just cut his losses, but apparently the guy is just a glutton for punishment. Simmons' unauthorized blog is back and this time its weekly NFL picks column that randomly got the nix from the "Leader"....

Quick update: I received a slew of e-mails yesterday wondering what happened to my Friday NFL column and blaming me for being lazy and all the usual crap. Please know that I handed in that column as scheduled - on Thursday night, on time, like I always do -- and on Friday afternoon, ESPN.com decided not to run the column. These are the facts.

Anyway, here were my Week 9 picks for posterity's sake....

....Last week: 9-3-2
Season: 59-52-5

We are on the record.
Well then. That's short and to the point, huh? I thought the two sides had worked out their differences, but it appears we're just getting started with this thing. Plus it can't be sitting well with Simmons that Rick Reilly's last articles was picking a fantasy Football team with Obama. That should have been you, Bill!!!

9-3-2?

Let's piece that miracle together.

Tampa was at -9.5 and Chicago was -12.5. Too high for gamblin' Bill. You know he took the Pats at +6.5.

....

There's no way he took the Bengals.

....

Vegas made this too easy. Philly only -7? Atlanta -3? Arizona -3? No wonder he did so well.

Oh yes, and fukk him he is a clown, etc.

Anyone else wish Simmons would just go away? He comes out with a decent column every 6 months, but everything else is slobbing on Boston's collective knob.

I could do without the Boston love, but the guy is still the best around. He's much better than Reilly.

For whatever it's worth, there is now a link to his 'Week 9 picks' on ESPN's home page...however, if you click on it, it just takes you to Simmons' ESPN home page, which just his picks pasted in there along the right side. I'm pretty sure that wasn't there on Friday, so maybe ESPN changed their approach slightly on how to handle the issue after the fact.

9-3-2 was his wife's score last week. He's 7-6 this week. No miracle to piece together, bigface.

He'll be fired after the end of the Super Bowl.
