John Lynch Retires, Is Immediately Hired By Fox

Monday, November 17, 2008

There were a handful of rumors that John Lynch would get scooped up once he officially (re)announced his retirement, and the winning network is FOX. Not only was he hired in about ten minutes, but they're wasting no time in throwing him to the wolves. Lynch will be on the call of Minnesota-Jacksonville game next Sunday, and will be paired with the consummate pro, Chris Rose.

Here are the rest of FOX's assignments for Week Twelve of the NFL season....

Carolina at Atlanta - Thom Brennaman, Brian Billick
Philadelphia at Baltimore -
Sam Rosen, Tim Ryan and Chris Meyers
San Francisco at Dallas - Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and Pam Oliver
Tampa Bay at Detroit - Ron Pitts, Tony Boselli and Charissa Thompson
Minnesota at Jacksonville - Chris Rose, John Lynch and Krista Voda
Chicago at St. Louis - Dick Stockton, Brian Baldinger and Laura Okmin
N.Y. Giants at Arizona - Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston and Tony Siragusa
Washington at Seattle - Matt Vasgersian, JC Pearson and Nischelle Turner

the nfc east lovefest is sickening. DAL and NYG games get the top two teams... and not CAR-ATL... By far the best game on the FOX slate.

@ Sammy, Giants/Cardinals is by far the best game...

The Panthers put up an absolute clunker in back to back weeks in the passing game and nearly let Oakland and Detroit beat them. I highly doubt that's an attractive match to watch nor is it one I'd send my top team too.

But yes the NFC East lovefest is sickening.

So apparently San Fran- Dallas is the most important game to FOX? Glad to see their Cowboy bias hasn't abated.

Oh, and while Panthers-Falcons is a good matchup, Giants-Cardinals is definitely the best game FOX has this week.

Where's Danyelle Sargent this week??? She's probably trying to score an interview with Bill Walsh's tombstone for the SF/DAL game.

Where will CBS send Nantz & Simms, Tennessee for the Jets-Titans or to Miami for the Parcells reunion game, Belichick and Sparano.

Nantz said next week's featured game was Jets/Titans, so I'm guessing there.

Niners/Boys getting the A Team? You kidding? There's gotta be something there we dont know about...

Travel costs is the reason, they want Buck and Aikman to stay in Dallas for the short week because of the Seahawks/Cowboys Thanksgiving game.

Lynch can't be any worse than Tony Boselli.

NYC was supposed to get Eagles-Ravens. After what happened yesterday Fox will have no choice but to provide NYC with America's Team.

BTW, Fox has the Week 12 doubleheader and Panthers-Falcons is one of the late games.

I guess Joe Buck don't want to go to Arizona. First he has to call stupid baseball instead of DAL/ARZ. Now he has to call SF/DAL. The people at Fox who assign their crews should be ashamed to send their top crew their. THE SF/DAL should at the least get the D or maybe the C crew.

Travel costs actually makes (some) sense.

Joe Buck and family want to celebrate thanksgiving with the Aikmans in Dallas. Let's have Joe go on tour of Dallas landmarks. Dealy Plaza, the sixth floor, the new Cowboys Stadium, Southfork Ranch, Jerry Jones and Mark Cuban's houses, along with Tom Hick's pad, the most expensive in Dallas. I'd tune in to the Thanksgiving pregame for that. It'll be better than Halftime hell with the Jonas Brothers!

I know that everyone, FOX included, considers Joe Buck and Troy Aikman the "top" team. I call shenanigans, Buck is terrible and has no enthusiasm, he almost ruined the greatest play in Giants history by providing one of the least exciting in the history of sports, for an extremely exciting play. Aikman provides very little insight, and considerable homerism.

I'd take Kenny Albert and Moose any day of the week. Now if we could only get Goose off that team, and out of broadcasting completely, Albert and Moose would be the best team in football.

@ssreporters- I'm a Cards fan(it goes back to the days of Larry Wilson, Charley Johnson, and Prentice Gautt), and to be honest with you, I don't think they can beat the Giants.

Travel costs is a pretty dumb excuse for FOX.

After all, Jim Nantz will fly from Tennessee for Jets/Titans to Detroit for Thanksgiving.

CBS at least is not afraid to send their top PBP man to the better game.

FOX, I hate to be critical but Eagles/Ravens and Panthers/Falcons are on the docket and you send Buck and Aikman to the San Fran/Dallas game? Looking at things objectively, even though I love my Broncos and even though they're playing really good football right now, Nantz and Simms aren't doing the Raiders/Broncos game, I guarantee it. Way to screw it up again, morons.

Ugh, Siragussa crew for the Giants game! They are the worst!

I(f I was Fixed Sports, Sirgusa gets a part-time color booth gig in 2009, and Chris Myers goes to the sidelines on the "B" squad.

@ Frank M: Buck and Aikman are considered Fox's top team because they're supposed to get Fox's best games (although by the looks of things, they don't have the best game this week), not because of their talent. Joe Buck, in the opinion of many but not me, is the worst announcer out there.

I'm not sure I buy the Kenny and Moose thing. While Siragusa is in my opinion the worst announcer out there, I think I've heard enough of Kenny and Daryl that I don't think they would be great without Goose. Better, hell yes, but I'm not sold on great.

Krista Voda did a great job on the game, gave balanced reporting from both sidelines
