Sunday MLB Division Series Open Thread

Sunday, October 05, 2008

See, the Rays have some celebrity fans. I'd take Paul Azinger's support any day.

Natch, there's other stuff besides football today, and if you're gonna spend a good chunk of your day on TBS watching baseball, share with us! The Dodgers finished off the Cubs, and Tampa Bay, Philly, and Boston have the opportunity to do the same to their opponents today.

Philadelphia Phillies at Milwaukee Brewers (Game #4, 1pm)- Brian Anderson, Joe Simpson, John Smoltz and David Aldridge
Tampa Bay Rays at Chicago White Sox (Game #3, 4pm)- Don Orsillo, Harold Reynolds and Marc Fein
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Boston Red Sox (Game #3, 7pm)- Chip Caray, Buck Martinez and Craig Sager

After seeing Sager's lime green sport coat/yellow tie with pink flowers get-up on Friday, I'm curious to see what he can dig out that's louder as far as fashion goes.

Zach - I don't know; there's only so many times you can ride one guy's arm. Wouldn't count it out, though, so the Phils NEED to win today.

The Rays have more than Azinger. Vitale and Cena are also celebrity fans. There's just not many notable celebrities that hail from the Tampa area...and no, I don't think the Hulkster's family counts.

Chris Singleton on ESPN Radio, not trusting the flags atop U.S. Cellular Field:

Singleton: "Get ready for the swirl."

Worst. Pickup line. Ever.

@rjbo

What was Singleton doing on the radio broadcast? 3 man team? 4 man team? Or did he replace Stoney and/or Farmer?

None of those options make sense to me.

@rob in wi:

Gary Thorne & Chris Singleton are doing the Rays-White Sox series on ESPN Radio. What doesn't make sense to me is how ESPN Radio 1000 in Chicago can run the national broadcast while 670 has the regular White Sox broadcast.

No radio blackout rules, that's how.

if you could give us a heads up on what color Sager's thong is going to be, that would be a great media scoop.

No radio blackout for the playoffs? Seems odd. Can't imagine why AM1000 would want to play the Sox game anyway. I mean, other than spite I suppose.

Cena isn't a real Rays fan, he got paid to do that. He's from Boston.

@7:28: ESPN-1000 was the White Sox flagship in '05 when the South Siders won the Series.

Wow...The Angels and the Sawx are entering a 12th inning still tied at 4. The Sox have had so many opportunities and chances to win this game it's unbelieveable.
