Mort Talks To Seattle Radio Station About Favre And Glazer

Thursday, October 23, 2008

So Chris Mortensen was on 950 KJR this morning to talk NFL on the "Mitch In The Morning" show, and he decided to address the whole Brett Favre-ESPN situation. There's nothing really controversial said, but the guy seems to think he's a "fact checker" now....

The thing that amazes me the most about Mort's whole attitude when it comes to this is that he comes off like a complete hypocrite. If you take every story that Mort tried to break in the past two years, he did the EXACT opposite of what he said he did in regards to this story. I mean the guy has a laundry list of stories that he jumped the gun on, and now he's going to pretend that he's cautious?

You have the Mike Vick indictment story, Ron Rivera as the next Cowboys Coach, Eli Manning's injury, the Parcells to Atlanta guarantee. He even said at one point that Brett Favre WAS NOT going to come back this season.

Again, I don't deny that he's a hard worker, but he doesn't need to try and pretend that he's this beacon of journalistic integrity, when he's clearly not.

That cavalier attitude is digusting.

He's still a thousand times better than that fraud Peter King. How does King still have 50 jobs and why do all these dopey radio hosts slobber all over him? A freaking joke.
Glazer's lapped the field. Wake up, goofballs.

Mortensen is a good representative oh what ESPN has become.....

Jumps the gun on big stories, hold back on the negative stories on their starlets like Favre.

On a side note, I urge you to listen to Mitch in the Morning, it's a good show, and if you dig deep the Marv Albert impressions are hilarious. Steve Sandmeyer is also funny, show is great overall, and yes, hot chicks are the talk of the show at times.

I'll be updating you guys on whether or not this particular post actually made it to their show tomorrow, because I think they do span blogs.

The recipients of Chris Mortensen's information are reporting that once again, he is completely full of crap.

At least Dickie V got his "scoop" right. Although, if it involved Coach K instead of Lute Olsen, it would've received the "DO NOT REPORT" treatment.

The FOX pregame music for the World Series is horrible. It sounds like Muzsak you'd hear in the grocery story or something.

ESPN had no problem running Tomasse's fiction on the eve of the Super Bowl.

@ Anon: I actually like Fox's pregame music for the World Series.

On Mort: Let's go by the rule of thumb. If he reports a story, the opposite is most likely true....

ESPN has this attitude with scenarios like this that no one will remember the day before.

So they throw bullshit out there and re-write history.

And what's to stop them, they're probably right. Maybe 90% of people don't know what happened yesterday and the day before that.

Glazer. Self created hype. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

AA, compare this Favre story with ESPN running with "The Patriots are reportedly upset with Brady's choice of doctors" story from yesterday. Which the Patriots then refuted. Lovely double standards. They have no problem just plain making up stories about the Patriots. Mort is full of shit.

Rule of Thumb(s): Whenever Mort breaks a story, look elsewhere for confirmation, preferably outside of ESPN. None to be found? It's likely made up.

Jay Glazer breaks a story? Highlu likely that it's true. Don't look for confirmation, he'll probably be the first with it. Wait an hour of two until another non-ESPN outlet confirms it.

Bottomline: Don't go to a source that will pick and choose what it determines to be news.

Mort isn't someone that I would have total faith in, when it comes to breaking news. He works for ESPN wich doesn't say much for Mort. They are just a bunch of "Elitists".

Perception is reality for the Patriots and yes we all love to hate them. It's hard to shake stigmas. Of course, I hate Brett Favre too, so why doesn't Mort do what real journalists should do and report honestly all the time?

Mort's a fraud...he's way too close to these athletes (just like Peter King) that he's afraid to report what may hurt his friends.

Mort should have come out and said that 'this report is circulating but everything we have read is that it is NOT true'. Ignoring the story just shows the bias the 'leader' has for all things Favre. If this was any other QB in the league other than Brady they would have reported it.
