A Look At The "VIP" Sideline List For The OSU-USC Game

Friday, September 12, 2008

So everyone knows that USC games are the Fall destination for actors and actresses to be seen in L.A. Well ESPNU has come across the list of USC-approved sideline credential holders and it couldn't be more fun to peruse. I'll see you after the list....

Hollywood:

Jamie Foxx
Denzel Washington
Nick Lachey
Christian Slater
Henry Winkler
John Krasinski
Ed Helms
Robert Patrick
Kaitlin Olson
David James Elliot
Zach Galifianakis
George Eads
Jerry Bruckheimer
Alexis Jones

Sports:

Dick Butkus
Isiah Thomas
Michael Strahan
Eddie George
Greg Oden
Amare Stoudemire
Anna Rawson
John David Washington

USC Football Alumni:

Anthony Munoz
Ronnie Lott
Marcus Allen
Charles White
Sam Cunningham
Rodney Peete
Dennis Thurman
Johnnie Morton
Todd Marinovich
Sean Salisbury
Jeff Bregel
Chris Hale
Mazio Royster
Malaefou MacKenzie
David Kirtman

USC 2008 Olympians:

Ous Mellouli
Larsen Jensen
Klete Keller
Erik Vendt

Okay, if you take away the two big Hollywood names (Denzel, Jamie Foxx), ex-USC players and grads, we are left with the most random collection of "stars" (and a really attractive LPGA player) ever. Look I love Jim from "The Office", George Eads from CSI and comedian Zack Galifianakis as much as the next person, but seriously....how did they sneak their way onto the list? I want to know their secrets!

Given that Anna Rawson is currently in 2nd place at the LPGA's Bell Micro Classic, you'll need to tune into the Golf Channel this weekend

I don't think that Marinovich was granted a field pass. But he'll be out there performing the hell out of his custodial duties.

well...if usc starts to fall behind they can always ask robert patrick to go t-1000 on the buckeyes.

a lot of hub-bub for a game that's going to be a 3-touchdown beatdown.

Dick Butkus?! Coach, he's swearing!

Guess the reference and win a Gold Star!

Galifianakis is probably the weirdest name on there. Unless he's there to actually do something, I guess.

I'm surprised Snoop Dogg hasn't jumped back on the bandwagon now that USC is number 1 again.

Of course being on the sideline is the worst place to actually see the game.

Zach Galifinakis is the man. Why he's at the the USC game, I have no idea, although I'm sure it's head-and-shoulders above attending the games of his alma mater. I wouldn't be a fan either.

/fixed, since Beanie Wells is now "out."

Might want to add Chris "Beanie" Wells to the list of VIP from Sports who will be on the sidelines now.

I once met Todd Maranovich at a fraternity party...in MARTIN, TENNESSEE! How the hell do you go from that to sidleine passes with Denzel Washington?

Silly - these people are there to be seen, not to watch the game.

I think you all passed over the best name on the list Henry Winkler. How could you not be pumped for the Fonz?

@Kyle: That's an easy one, its from How High

How long before Ed Helms starts heckling Todd Boeckman, "Nice interception Big Tuna!"?

Denzel was a Fordham grad who's son made it to the pros and of course he is Denzel. I still don't get Nick Lachey's popularity or star-power. I would think that Pete Carroll would keep him away from any of his players for the sake of protecting the young co-eds. Same with Christian Slater who has not been relevant since True Romance/Heathers.

Oh and can somebody go up to Marinovich and ask if he wants a cheeseburger from McDonald's?

Eddie George was not, in fact, there, as I saw him standing on the on the bar in Columbus that bears his name pledging a free round of shots for every Buckeyes TD scored.

That pledged cost him exactly 0 dollars.
