The Boston Celtics Are Your 2007-2008 NBA Champions

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

Well Boston has done it again and I don't know what to say. There's not a single player on this team that you can hate (unless you're a Lakers fan) and you couldn't even really root against them (unless you're Jemele Hill). Screw all the particulars and stats....the Celtics put up 131 points (131!) and KG is certifiable. Let's get into the video....

Just a great way for arguably three of the best players to never win a title, to take solidify their greatness in the league. And oh yes...you're certified KG...but who the hell cares? Be as crazy as you want to be tonight. Congrats again Boston and be careful tonight....there's a full moon out there. Oh and what I said earlier about hating all of you.....you booed Stu Scott, so we're cool!

Update: Here's Garnett's post game press conference complete with a question from Scoop Jackson!

Finally putting the Kobe/Jordan debate to rest is the only thing (other than the Celts getting it down in classic beatdown fashion) worth noting. Jordan would have never taken a beating like that.

It's a shame that if the Celts would have lost, people would have continued to say KG's excellent career wasn't validated. The funny thing is, it took him playing a VERY mediocre series (other than game 6) for people to say that he's a legitimate all-timer. Just goes to show how fickle fans are -- it is possible to be a great, even dominant, player and never win a title.

Michelle's from MN. She and KG go way back. The only question to be resolved from a MN fan's point of view is the following:

"Was there a waiver in the KG trade that says McHale receives a Championship Ring?"

I must say - I am shocked ! Stunned. What happened Kobe? I mean really? What is going on? I expect a major move again this offseaso for the Lakers. Danny Ainge is really good GM.

Anyhow I hope they did not get tired on the Airflight, that is a LONG trip and you need all the rest in the NBA FINALS.

I am a Big NBA Fan, but I wanted a closer match-up. Poor Lakers. I guess the Refs could not cheat to force a Seventh Game because of the David Stern-Tim Donaghy Scandal? Any ESPN Insights on that one?

I also think perhaps, so it seems, that the Lakers wore "Sede Vacante" Caps or maybe I should (with Richard Williamson) call them"Mente vacante" Baseball hats? I mean really:

http://www.zazzle.com/vatican_baseball_cap_hat-148990466825652270

All I know the "Big Three" (Pierce, Garnett, Allen) went to the Vatican in Rome, Italy before the season with Doc Rivers to find a Common Basketball Philosophy, I am not sure what happened there? Anyone know about the Vatican-Roma Camp the Celtics had? I know Kobe's dad owns a team, I think in Milano? Maybe there is some special Latin Tridentine Mass Papal Ritual they attended to bless their Record Season?

Where were all the Hollywood Stars cheering on LA? I mean everyone loves to "jump on" the Hollywood Bandwagon, right? Like for example, Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, Mike Huckabee, Chuck Norris, Timothy Henneberry, George Michael, Anthony Hopkins, Robert De Niro, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Don Johnson, Clarence Kelly, Michael Bishop, Marc Anthony, J Lo, Irving "Magic" Johnson, Matthew "The Valid" Parker, Sylvester Stallone, Jack Nicholson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, George W. Bush, Vince Young, Michael Vick, T.O., Lefty Cekada, Kenyan West, Britney Spears, Monsignor Georg Gänswein, Sean O'Malley, Bernard Law, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Barack Obama, John McCain, Tony Blair, Roger Federer, Tiger Woods, Guy Richie, Mon. Bernard Fellay SSPX, Tom Delay, Howard Stern, Tony Armani, Ronald Bryant, Sting, Jose Canseco Bono, Ronnie Brown, Al Gore, Santana, Dario Castrillon Hoyos, Richard Jamison, John Henry, Bill Gates, Donald Trump, Anthony Sanborn, Donald Rumsfeld, Solomon Rosenberg, Bob "The Center" Michael, Peter Marcel, Timmy Dimond, Al Michaels, Hulk Hogan, Karl "The Mailman" Malone, "The Worm" Dennis Rodman, James Lefebvre, Tony Romo, Jessica Simpson, Ric Flair, Bill Richardson, Vince McMahon, Joseph Ratzinger, Bob Kraft, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Eddie Murphy, Bobby Thuc, Tom Hanks, Shakira, Paula Abdul, Roberto Gonzalez, Colin Powell, Jerry Lawler, Howard Dean, Dick Cheney, Tony Garcia, Adam Sandler, Jerry Seinfeld, Bob Barker, Jerry Lewis, Regis Philbin, etc.?

I mean really, this was suppose to be the BIG TIME Lakers vs Celtics Rivalry FINALS, and I did not see many Hollywood Stars and other Celebrities at the Boston Garden there, why? DIid David Stern and Senator Arlen Specter deny them invitations? Is Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens banned from NBA Games? And how about Sir Charles Barkley (Is he banned for Gambling on Games)? Or is it just traditional pro-forma to have to receive an "Universal Indult", you know, to get into the Front Row Seats?

The crowd booed David Stern, is that Anti-Semitic? I felt weird.

Anyhow, Congrats to Paul Pierce (a LA Boy) -- we all can cheer for him, he is a secret-Lakers fan, I heard from a certain unknown Rafa Erofadaps,

Shhh!

The NBA is Fantastic.

I can't wait for the Olympic Games in China, I hope Kobe Bryant and Yo Ming play.

- Jason "Sede Vacante" McMichaels

"On top o' da world, Ma!!!"(honestly, that was the only coherent thing he said, postgame...and I'm alright w/ that.)

I am pretty sure you can still hate James Posey...

I've always thought "comparisons" were unfair. But the NBA is always looking for the next player to carry the torch. As such, Kobe was pretty much in a no-win situation when it came to the MJ comparisons.

But even MJ would not have won with this Lakers team. MJ's "Robin" was Scottie, a versatile defensive STOPPER. the Bulls were a very good defensive team (i.e. Rodman, Harper, Jordan, Pippen), and defense wins championships.

Kobe is the only player on the team (save for Bynum) who is not a defensive liability. The World Games, where GaSOFT, Vujucic, and Radmonovic excel, is all about fundamentals and finesse whereas the NBA playoffs are all about toughness.

Compare teams in the East (including MJ's Bulls) with this Laker team. Now you see why MJ would have lost, too.

lol speak for yourself AA I found a lot of the Celtics very hateable. Granted I already hate Boston and I barely watch the NBA but I was a little sick of Posey's after the play fouls and Pierce's dive in Game 1 and those are just the two best examples. On the other hand I loved Sasha Vujacic but I can understand why others don't like him, he's just my type of player

I can still hate the Celtics, and I hate the Lakers. A lot.

I hate the Celtics and I think Ainge was a b.s. choice for Executive of the Year because bringing in Garnett and Allen was a total no-brainer and he's mostly been a screw-up until then. I respect teams like Toronto or Atlanta who build, make smart acquisitions and work their way to contention. Bringing a couple big-name players is an easy fix and that's why I hate the Celtics.

KG has been doing this for years. Whenever he is doing a postgame inteview with a woman, he almost always closes the interview with "You're looking good girl!"

Timberwolve's sideline reporter Leah Olson heard this from KG for years.

steveriffic: If you followed the NBA you would know that there actually is a logic behind the stated plan of Ainge. Draft well, build up young tradeable assets and deal them. This ain't baseball just sign up all the free-agents you want with no salary cap. You think giving up Al Jefferson is nothing? Gomes? Bassy and GG? (ok those last two maybe....) But this idea of "bring in big name players" is ignorant of how the NBA actually functions.

Also, The Celtics don't win with just KG and Shuttleworth. The Celtics win because Danny Ainge signed James Posey, signed Eddie House, drafted Big Baby (by proxy), drafted Rondo, drafted Powe, signed PJ Brown, drafted Tony Allen, see what I'm getting at here?
