The NHL's Cup Raise Commercial

Thursday, May 22, 2008

The Stanley Cup Finals don't get underway until this weekend, but they've already begun advertising for the Pens-Wings series on Youtube. Here's an amazing stop action ad that NHL has put up and will likely be seen on Versus and NBC as well.....

That actually gave me goosebumps. For some reason commercials with old photos or clips always get to me. Good stuff NHL.

(Thanks to CC for sending this my way.)

Cool ad, NHL. Now, just work on not having the Stanley Cup Finals opposite the Eastern Conference Finals in the same city at the same time.

/kidding - Bettman was on WDFN and apologized for the scheduling, but said there wasn't much that could be done; he's right

Impressive, who knew the NHL could make something even I, one who hasn't watched a hockey game in about 5 years, liked.

NBA and NHL with slam dunk advertising campaigns in one year?

I saw a special on the NHL network a couple weeks ago called Lord Stanley's Summer. It followed Carolina players after they won the Stanley Cup and how the players spent their day with the Cup. The emotion these guys show when they take the Cup home to their family and friends is incredible.

I know most players who win a championship are happy, but there seems to be a deeper emotional connection about winning the Stanley Cup.

Now THAT'S marketing...It's about damn time the NHL got its money's worth from its ad agency...

I could watch Brindy and (more importantly) Glen Wesley lift that thing every day for the rest of my life
