The People Who Nominate For The Sports Emmys Apparently Don't Watch Sports

Monday, March 17, 2008

I've never understood how the Sports Emmys actually work and now I think we officially know that these nominators don't watch the same shows and people us Sports Fans do. The simple fact that the Pam Ward Chronicle's First Winner is nominated should make them lose all credibility.

Not all of the nominees are terrible and I would like to highlight those people here. Mainly because they have no chance of winning a Sports Emmy with the impressive list of ass-kissers they're up against. Ernie Johnson, Mike Emrick, Jay Bilas, and Marv Albert. Now you can say that they have won in the past, but when you're going up against Mainstream Favorites like Bob Costas, Bryant Gumbel, Joe Buck, and Tim McCarver.....they're not going to win again.

Here is the list via Fang's Bites....

Does Herm Edwards get to keep the Sports Emmy if the Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Kansas City Chiefs wins? I especially loved it when he took so much time to color in the 'Welcome to Training Camp' sign only to have the Vets step all over it.

Congrats K.C. fans!

Wait ... Joe Buck got a nomination for play-by-play, and Gus Johnson did not?

I demand a recount.

It could have been worse, though - at least Billy Packer didn't get a nomination.

I'll be rooting for Bryant Gumbel to win for Outstanding Sports Journalism.

I guess one story late out of a hundred isn't that good. My apologies and congrats to TBL...I guess.

We all have the same feelings about Buck and McCarver etc.

But DOUG COLLINS??? He's worse than Reggie Miller.

Sports Emmy are like the Oscars. Joe Buck is favored by these people because he is just like them, a snob who tries to be bigger than he actually is.

Wait to have a loser's mentality AA. It hasn't been one story out of a hundred, you've been late on quite a few. I would've thought you would strive to be perfect, but I guess not.

I for one am outraged that Tino Martinez didn't get a nomination for studio host.

Or Mike Patrick for PBP

Wait to have? I'm confused. Thanks for reading Anon...whether I post the story first or last.

What is this with AA taking the high road on douchebag commenters? Are you feeling OK? : >

I will say this much, if America's Game doesn't win... I'm going to kill someone.

Actually I probably won't... in fact odds are I won't know the results for awhile, if ever and when I do find out I won't care.... But saying I'm going to kill someone just comes across so much better.

I don't even know what to say at this point Jeff. What am I even arguing about? That one of the one million sites out there get sent a link before I did on a filler post???

I guess you should go comment on TBL that I beat them to the ESPN Power Point item.

It's all just crazzzzzy these days.
