So how about this for an American debut. 3-3, Double, BB, 3 RBIs oh and this....

"A star is born in the teeth of the Lake Michigan wind."- Brent Musburger

Kerry Wood had tried to blow the game for the Cubs followed in turn by Eric Gagne doing the same for the Brewers. Fun game....well fun from the 9th inning on and Brent Musburger wasn't that bad.

The Cubs also lost the game in the tenth. Ah Baseball....it's good to have you back.

Cubs still lost, but this was really awesome. I expect some big things from Fukudome and I took a chance on him in my Fantasy League as well.

Can any of you believe that I got the Brewers to give me all that money??? (evil, uncontrollable laugh) Expect a season worth of this!

I am not sure anyone should get too excited about this. I believe that Kaz Matsui had a MLB debut a lot like this. How has that one worked out?

Ugh. Two Opening Day games I try to make every year (Cubs, Tigers) play on the same day, both lose in extras, and I go to neither. I think my liver is the only one happy.
We need Brent on more baseball games (not because he's necessarily better than Gary Thorne or Jon Sciambi).

It's is unfortunate that the Cubs of Chicago lost this game of entertaining proportions.
How about the closer for the Brewers of Milwaukee? 10 Million? Ha! How's that one going to wrok out?

....Is this the unofficial Jim Rome e-mailer board? I missed the memo. Maybe if they were funny.

Brent on MLB??!?!?! I think I need a bag of kitty litter to absorb whats going on in my pants right now.

Mar 31, 2008, 7:35:00 PM

If only I was funny, then maybe people would like me. Probably not.

Not to be picking a fight or be confrontational but why not get excited over it? The guy went 3-3 with 3 RBI, which he netted with a game tying home run in the bottom of the 9th!

I think the guy showed a lot of things today to be excited about. He drew a patient walk, and showed enough clutch and poise to jack a bottom of the ninth homer! In his first MLB game no less.

Lastly I'm a Cubs fan, let me get my spirits up about something even if we did lose. Pardon me for being excited but if I can't get that way over watching Fukudome then I don't know, maybe I should have a lobotomy.

What should I be afraid of sam? I don't understand your angle. Should I be concerned that Fukudome is going to get anal fissures?

(My attempt at light hearted sarcasm)

jd,
Sorry for making you so upset. I watched the at bat and it was awesome. He is going to be great. But we all have a bad habit of turning people in Hall of Famers because of 1 game. Are you excited about the entire team though? I am just wondering what you, as a Cub fan, think about how the team is going to be. Are the 9ths going to be safe at all?
Again, sorry for getting you upset.

I think as a Cubs fan it's okay to be excited but the rest of should be cautioned.

Beautiful to see the Cubs lose. I don't think I would have survived reading the papers tomorrow in Chicago.

Sometimes I wonder why I went and got a Blogger account. Eventually, some lazy piece of shit, bereft of any comedic or insightful acumen would get tired and decide to do exactly what some buffoon did here.
*slow clap*
Congratulations, whoever the Hell you are. Bill Engvall needs someone to open for him in Chillicothe. You've just earned your spot, hurry and catch the Megabus with your $1 while you can. Bastard.

I love it when people mock what other people write and then get their panties in a twist when some mocks them. Classic.

Get used to it Brewers fans. Gagne will continue to turn a mop up appearance with a 9 run lead in the 9th into a save opportunity every time.

this can't be the rome e-mailer board because nobody said "war bums using a ____ for a _____"

anyways, i hope it's not too much longer before all mlb extra innings games are in HD. i have cox/arizona and this SD is horrible.

Cubbie overexcitement - Arthur
'Tuffy' Rhodes. He was a pretty good hitter in Japan too.

If sabremetrics are to be believed, F-bomb is gonna have many more days like this.

Compared to who the Cubs have trotted out to RF over the last five years, he's a superstar. Against everyone else, he'll still be above average with a decent shot at stardom.

I just wish I would've gone to "Lunch with a Legend" with Brent tomorrow in Chicago (of course sponsored by Crown Royal). A webcast just won't do.

Wonder the ratings comparision between WWE Raw with Ric Flair's retirement vs. women's basketball and opening day baseball. Raw obvious will destroy women's basketball

It might've been Candy Maldonado. I know Sean McDonough would never, ever make another booze joke at Bill Raftery's expense if he didn't have to work with Candy Maldonado ever again.

This exchange by McDonough, Destrade & Candy coming out of the commercial break in the bottom of the 6th inning:

Commercial VO: "And by Toro. Count on it."
McDonough (laughing): "Toro. Who was El Toro?"
Maldonado: "Carlos Lee?"

Lee was El Caballo (The Horse). Close enough.

@brett:

'Lunch with a Legend' is tomorrow, Isn't it?

I can't wait to hear how Santo mispronounces Fukudome's name.
