Tafoya And Kolber Rumored To Be Nixed From Monday Night Crew

Sunday, February 10, 2008

PFT is on the case again and it looks like ESPN is dropping both of it's sideline reporters for Monday Night Football next season....

A media source tells us that ESPN are relieving Michelle Tafoya and Suzy Kolber of their duties on Monday Night Football.....

It remains to be seen whether this is a first step in an effort to reduce costs by shrinking the cast of characters who cover the Monday night game for ESPN. Several analysts are stationed in Bristol, a trio of talking heads have a desk inside the venue where the game is played, and multiple reporters typically swarm the stadium in the three or four hours before kickoff.
Again this is just a rumor, but PFT is usually dead on after talking to it's sources. I didn't really care for either of them on the telecast but it's odd that they would get rid of both of them. Could this be a sign that they might be looking to bring EA on board? Who knows, but it wouldn't be the worst idea if they did.

That photo above is beginning to look like the picture from Back to the Future isn't it?

Never posted here before but if true, today was like christmas for me. I might actually start wacting the games on espn again.

Bring in Marv and Jesse. Third person in the booth or sideline but that is it. espn always treated the game as if it was less important than the people covering it. The crew took carte-blanche to discuss the leaguue and other matters over what actually is occurring on the field.

Ditch TK, tirico, and ?.

Can't they keep Kolber on and add EA as well? I think that would be sweet.

Oh, yeah, and maybe get rid of the commentators.

I hope this doesn't pave the way for Emmitt to become one of their sideline reporters next year.

What if Shannon Spake was one of the MNF sideline hires? She's been noticeably absent on the NASCAR coverage I've seen (albeit limited) on ESPN. That Nicole Manske chick was all over their coverage the last few days. Unless one of you gearheads can help me out...

@bostonsucksmyblog:

Thanks. Erik Kusilias & Ryan Burr know nothing about NASCAR. Manske comes over from the Speed Channel (if I'm not mistaken), and she's kinda easy on the eyes.

Feel very free not to replace them with other sideline reporters, ESPN. There is no less worthless media job than a sideline reporter.

From that same USA Today report:

Sunday, Soltys also said the contracts of ABC/ESPN college football announcers Dan Fouts and Tim Brant, who worked together on West Coast games, have expired and won't be renewed.

Pack your bags, Pam Ward & Ray Bentley.
