Kentuckians Are Not Happy With CBS

Saturday, February 23, 2008

It's one thing to go away from a game when it's a blowout is one thing, but when a network switches away from a contest when it's a one point game and there's only 47 seconds left....someone's going to be pissed.

This is exactly what CBS did during today's Kentucky-Arkansas game and the local Kentucky network has been fielding so many angry calls that their telling people to call CBS Headquarters in NYC.....

LEXINGTON, KY - With 47 seconds left in the game between U. K. and Arkansas the Network switched away from the game and then switched back after 17 seconds.

The final score was 63-58. U.K. WON! WKYT-TV called CBS immediately after the mistake was made and had it switched back.

CBS is trying to find out where the error was made.

CBS New York's phone number is 1-212-975-3247. Hundreds of outraged fans have called and scores have e-mailed WKYT-TV and have been referred to the network number to register their complaints.
Ha. I love the "U.K. WON!" part that they threw in there. I can't imagine how much I'd flip out if that happened to me, but at least you won the game Kentuckians.

CBS Network Switches Away From U. K. v. Arkansas (WKYT)

NYC-based CBS cut away from a game featuring two southern schools to show a game with NYC-based St Johns vs Duke. Has CBS bought ESPN ?, this sounds like something the WWL would do.

Who cares? I'm worried that Ashley Judd has hit the wall.

Wait, you mean there was a nationally televised SEC basketball game and Kentucky was playing?

Kentucky is 2-for-2 again this week.

Right JG. Kentucky fans shouldn't be complaining. It's sorta like Duke complaining that they're not on ESPN enough. I mean shit, you suck, and the networks act like they'll go bankrupt in 5 minutes if Kentucky isn't playing in their SEC game of the week.

I was watching the game and was rolling when it happened because I could hear the community screaming. The CBS screw-up was the lead story on the local news, followed by the game highlights, and THEN they get to two hotel robberies and an inmate escaping from jail.

If you think you guys are tired of UK nationally, you can't escape it locally. There's no need for 2 1/2 hours of pre-game for a 2 hour game.

Try living in this state. Kentucky fans are the most insufferable bunch of "the world revolves around us" people on Earth. They think this team deserves to be in the NCAA tourney, even though they recently lost a game by 41 POINTS!

You think they're pissed? Imagine being a Tennessee fan! You're about to be #1 in the country and they still ONLY show Kentucky.

Yes I knew they played last night. But that's only because it counted as a C-USA game (since it was played in Memphis). But don't worry, Tennessee will be on national TV next week.

They're playing Kentucky.

Well everywhere else in the country they switched from the Duke game to the Kentucky game...and the other half of the country was pissed off. Sometimes blowouts are entertaining too.

The only people in Kentucky who should be mad are the Loiusville Cardinal fans. I live in KY and that UK game was on 5 chanels. 2 HD stations and 3 local stations, the HD stations cut the game off but there were still 3 others stations that didn't cut off. UK gets every game shown on local TV while us UL fans had to pay 15$ to get the game VS. Pitt on Sunday. The state of kentucky needs to realize that Pitino is building a dynasty and UK is still goin down the drain even with their new alcoholic coach.
