Did John Buccigross And Neil Everett Lose A Bet?

Thursday, February 28, 2008

I've said it time and time again, but the 11pm Sports Center is absolutely hilarious. It's almost like the true talent and people with humor at ESPN sit around all day and come up with ideas to try out. Like how many Bruce Springsteen songs can we name during the show?

Reader SG pointed me to this clip and he said that this continued throughout the show. If they got 10 out during the opening do you think they could get through the whole Bruce catalog? Roger Clemens is up "The River" without a paddle???

I once worked at ESPN and they would have competitions of who can reference things the most times. One night it was most fletch lines in a show.

I was once watching SportsCenter, and noticed them drop in a reference to indy rocker Sufjan Stevens. They were doing the Chicago Bulls recap, and basically said "Now to Chicago, all things grow, all things grow", which is a line from Stevens' song "Chicago". I laughed quite hard and wished I had a TiVo to save that moment.

Free Vick, you missed "bouncin' off a satellite" (from Radio Nowhere) and Magic.

That's 14 references in the first 1:17. They did about 30 more.
