Gus Johnson's Call Of The Knicks/Giants Game

Thursday, January 17, 2008

I saw this on TV the other day when I was up in Boston, but this is the first time I could get my hands on the audio.

On Sunday during the Knicks game Gus Johnson noticed that the MSG folks had put the Giants game on the Jumbotron for the fans. He noted that both teams were kind of checking out the game and then amazingly decided to call the game for those checking out the Knicks game at the time.....

Seriously, what can't this guy do? And of course Eddy Curry had to brick a shot during Gus' moment. Damn you Eddy.

AA, whenever the Knicks are playing at home, and they hear cheering, you know that something has to give.

Gus is the best. His call of the UK-Vandy game last Saturday was Hall of Fame caliber. I don't understand how he doesn't get more/better gigs. He is the best play-by-play guy for basketball or football - and we, the fan, keep getting Nantz shoved down our throats. It must be some political BS that is getting in his way, because he certainly has the talent to be on the #1 announcing crew for any network.

yea, gus should be the top bball guy for cbs. id also like to see cbs have gus replace verne lundquist as the main sec football announcer. i think his enthusiasm would make him a natural fit for announcing college football games.

Just a thought, but isn't what El Gusto did seem just a little bit illegal. He's describing NFL play-by-play without the expressed written permission of the "Judge, Jury, Executioner Goodell". Don't be surprised if Goodell hands down a punishment on Gus for that.
