Thursday Night Football Live-Blog: Broncos at Texans 2nd Half

10-6 Texans to start the Second Half, and Tom and Cris are doing a great job of keeping me interested in an otherwise boring contest.

"You can't handle the truth Prime. You want the truth?- Adalius Thomas during halftime interview.

Broncos get the ball to start the half.

"Talked to Bryant, he sounded good. We'll see him Saturday night with Marshall and Deion."- Cris Collinsworth

Damn. Broncos ball at the 20.

Play action to Marshall and that's 10 receptions for Brandon....first down. Selvin Young trips and loses 2 yards on the play. Cutler to his TE Sheffler and that nets another first. Broncos Driving...at their own 45.

Young for three yards on first. Marshall gets another grab and yet another first down. Young gets about two on first. Play action to Scheffler makes it 3rd and 3 from the 33. SACKED! Mario Williams again! That'll take them out of FG range as well.

Broncos go for it on 4th and 7. Short! Texans ball great tackle. Selvin Young caught it but he was dragged down short.

Ron Dayne goes for 8 on first down and gets the first down on second and short. Play action to Dayne gets to midfield and it'll be 2nd and 6. Ron Dayne once again and he picks up 2 to make it 3rd and short.....

Walker on the pitch to the right and a nice run. First down on the 9 yard gain. Walker runs on first for about three and that's followed by a false start penalty. 2nd and 11.

Daniels gets a huge pickup down to the ten. Play action burned the Broncos again. 29 yards. Dayne for zero on first down, but a 12-men penalty will make it first and goal for the Texans.

Rosenfels tries the bootleg again but Denver picks it up this time. Sage throws it away......

TOUCHDOWN TEXANS!!! Ron Dayne who throws the Heisman pose to the crowd. Yeah Ron.....go back to an award you got 10 years ago.

17-6 Texans.

Martinez out to the 30, first down Broncos. Henry runs for 3 on first down. Cutler hits Scheff for a big gain down to the Texans' 35. First down.

Cutler rolls out on first down, and throws yet another fadeaway that should have been picked but was again dropped by the Texans. Nothing on 2nd down and it'll be 3rd and 10...

ANOTHER almost pick. Tipped out of bounds by Bennett. 4th and 10, and the Broncos are going for it again....

BLITZ! And Cutler just chucks it up....incomplete as Marshall cut off his route. Texans ball.

Dayne runs for one. Play action pass...tipped! Picked off!!! Dre Bly....but there's a flag on the play. No foul because of the tip. First down Denver at the Houston 27.

Sheff with another grab for 8 and Cutler rolls out on 2nd down and picks up the first. 1st and 10 at the twelve.

Screen to Scheffler and he leaps for the TD! No....fumbles....no....Touchdown. He flipped into the endzone and looked to have crossed the plane.

Challenge from Houston. Great effort by the Tight End there and great camera shots from NFL Network. He's definitely in.

Confirmed. 17-13 Texans and we've got a game.

Texans ball at the 25. Dayne for 2 yards and that's the end of the third quarter.

Rosenfels hits Johnson for another few yards, and it'll be third and short. Rosenfels to Walter down the sideline for the first down! 25 yards down to the Denver 42.

Dayne to the right and he fights through for 13 yards and another first down. Walker for 2 yards, Walker again for a first down, and add a 5-yard facemask as Darius was running by the line. First down and goal at the 8.

Dayne for 3 on first down. Walters for a one yard gain.....

TOUCHDOWN TEXANS! A short screen to Johnson on the left and he follows his blocker into the endzone.

24-13 Texans.

Broncos ball at their own 32. Handoff to Henry for three yards. Henry for another 2 and it will be 3rd and short, and Travis Henry is hurt.

"Travis Henry who's had his injury problems as well as other problems this year."- Chris Collinsworth

Cutler scrambles and Mario Williams gets him again! 3rd sack of the game....he is dominating the Broncos line. Broncos Punt. Texans ball at the 30.

Ron Dayne for a huge run! 25 yards on first down and into Broncos territory. Walker follows with another nine, and it's 2nd and short. Walker is nailed by DJ Williams, but picks up the first down anyway.

Dayne for 3 on first down. Rosenfels rolls on the naked boot and hits Andre Johnson at the one! Great play....first and goal. Walker for a yard on first down....about an inch to go....Ron Dayne short on second down....

TOUCHDOWN TEXANS!!! Leach the fullback pushes his way in.

31-13 Texans.

"Sometimes you just have to let the big dogs eat too."- Cris Collinsworth

I have no idea what that means. 3 minutes to go.

Broncos ball on their own 37. Cutler to Scheffler over the middle for nine, run for zero, run for a first. Bennett drops another interception, and that one falls incomplete...2nd down. Young gets a screen for about 3 and that's the 2 minute warning.

3rd and 9....Cutler sacked. 4th and 12 for the Broncos....Cutler to Walker but he's short of the first down. That's your game folks.

31-13 is your Final, and the Texans win it at home. Everyone say goodbye to the Broncos' playoff chances.

As far as the booth goes. I don't know what to say. Tom Hammond is everything that Gumbel isn't. He was clear and concise, spoke with conviction, and didn't make mistakes (or cough up phlegm in the booth). Did someone say Wally Pipp? I hope the NFL Network is reading.

Thanks to those who stopped by. I'll see you all tomorrow for the AA Interview and other good stuff. Have a great night.

Tom Hammond was great in tonight's broadcast. The idea that he rides the pine while Bryant Gumbel remains the main guy is baffling/infuriating to me.
