Monday Night Football Live-Blog; Pats-Ravens 2nd Half

Monday, December 03, 2007

We've got ourselves a game folks. That guy pictured drunk in the Ravens hat above is your Ravens QB and he has them in this thing. Ravens get the ball to start the half.

McGahee picks his way for an 11-yard gain great running there. Willis again for another 8 and they just need to give him the ball every single down. First down McGahee.

Boller picks up 4 on a first down impromptu run, and Willis picks up the first down AGAIN! Willis for 2 yards. Boller to Mason for 21 yards down to the 17....

McGahee!!!! What a run. He's playing possessed....TOUCHDOWN RAVENS!!!!

17-10.

"The Ravens POUNDED it right down the throats of the Patriots."- Mike Tirico

Whoa Mikey.

Pats ball at the 30 and the B-More crowd is getting into it now. Draw to Maroney and he gets maybe 2. It's followed up by a screen to Maroney after Brady ad-libbed that one....huge gain. 36 yards.

Maroney for 4 on first down from the Ravens 34. Maroney again for four, and it'll be 3rd and 2....Draw and Maroney is stuffed a yard and a half short. Pats going for it.....

Another draw and Faulk gets the first. Brady throws complete to Brady for about six and follows that with yet another draw to Faulk for the first. Faulk runs for 3 and the Pats are inside the 10. Brady to Moss gets it to third and one on the out.

Brady to Moss! TOUCHDOWN PATS!!!

17-17.

Huge return by Figurs as he gets it out near the 50. That's how you beat the Pats right there. McGahee cuts it back and Kyle Boller throw a key block!!! 18 yard run, and Shula shows up in the booth. Screen to McGahee and he just schools the Pats LB for another first down.

Musa Smith down to the 19 for 8 and he follows it for another first down! They are running all over the Pats.

"I don't remember anything about an asterisk."- Don Shula

McGahee down to the five and he's running better than I've ever seen him. First down and that's the end of the third. We'll take the walk and see you in the fourth.

"News flash: The Pats have no run D." (Via Random Ranting)

Seriously. The Ravens have 162 Net Yards through three quarters. McGahee runs up the middle for about an inch and it'll be 2nd down.....

TOUCHDOWN RAVENS!!!!! Boller to Wilcox...another beautiful strike from Boller!

24-17 Ravens.

"I got Don Shula pounding me on my shoulder!"- Tony Kornheiser

"Gotta say...McGahee looks to really be taking advantage of the 30something linebackers. The Ravens O-line is really neutralizing the Pats D front, and the result is that it's Willis against Vrabel and Bruschi...not too surprising that McGahee can win that battle." (Via NHZ)

Hey, leave the real analysis to Jaws! He's the only one that can make sense around these parts. Just kidding...very good assessment.

Jaws really wants to call Laron McClain, Laron Landry....that's the second time tonight. Maroney picks up four as the Pats start from their own 30. Ngata with the sack of Brady!!! Baltimore is rocking! 3rd and long....SACKED AGAIN!!!!! Barnes with the tackle! Pats go three and out after back to back sacks on Brady.

Figurs with a HUUUUGE return, but there's a flag! On the Pats....illegal downfield!!! Baltimore ball at the Pats 31!

"You're here for life."- Tony Kornheiser
"And I like crabcakes."- Don Shula

Well that's good to know.

CRABCAKES AND FOOTBALL...THAT'S WHAT DON SHULA DOES!!! (Via Hanrahan)

McGahee to the right and nothing's working over there....back to the line of scrimmage. Willis again for nothing and it's third and ten. The Pats are putting everyone in the box now. False start makes it 3rd and 15. Boller deep over the middle. PICKED OFF!!!!!! Horrible pass and a dumb play altogether. Just run a screen or draw and kick the FG to go up two scores.

Can someone say turning point?

Offensive pass interference and....HOLY SHIT! Brian Billick is blowing kisses to Rodney Harrison. Hilarious. Maroney on the screen for a big gainer....there was no one around. 43 yards into Ravens territory. Maroney runs it to the 20, 2nd and 6.....incomplete to Moss in the endzone! That should have been Offensive Pass Interference as well. Man it's loud there....3rd down.....

INCOMPLETE! Gostkowski will attempt the FG....Good......

24-20 Ravens. 8 and change to go.

"Tom Brady couldn't have thrown that any better." - Jaws Really? Could he have thrown it in step with the route, instead of behind Moss' head? wouldn't that have been better? (Via Nick)

That Billick-Harrison video will be up soon.

"That Rambo commercial just gave me an erection." (Via Oops Pow Surprise)

Definitely. For as cheesy as that "Bodies Hit The Floor" song is it gets me pumped.

McGahee loses five on second down as Harrison is basically playing on the D-Line now. Boller incomplete and here we go. The Ravens punt to Wes Welker. Pats ball at their own 43.

Play action to Moss for 19 yards on first down. Maroney on the draw for six yards. Maroney picks up the first down, but there's a holding penalty on the Pats!!! Send em back. 2nd and 14. Brady tries a screen and it's sniffed out by the Ravens....and another penalty...illegal downfield. Why don't they decline it?!?! Oh wait they do....good call Billick. 3rd and 14.....

Incomplete!!! Suggs comes on the late blitz and nails Brady. Pats punt. SHANK!!!!!! That's what happens when punt all year. 14 yards. Ravens ball at their own 27.

Screen to McGahee for 6/7 yards on first. Willis picks up another 2 and it's third and short with 4 minutes left. Biggest play of the game.....

Short out to McGahee and Harrison is all over it.....zero yards. Timeout Pats. 3:41 to go. It'll be the Pats ball at their own 27. Here we go.

Play action to Stallworth and he is LIT UP by Samari Rolle!!!! Whoo! 2nd and 10....Brady to Watson for 23 yards and a huge first down to the 50. Incomplete to Faulk on first down as the backup back drops the short pass. Brady back to Faulk and he picks up 9.....3rd and 1.....

Brady sneaks for the first down. Downfield!!!! Incomplete to Watson! Whew....that was scary. Two Minute warning....we're going all bold my friends. This is the Undefeated Drive.....

2nd and 10....Brady checks at the line.....Ngata and Barnes with the pressure! Incomplete. Grounding anyone??? 3rd and 10....Faulk to the marker!!! Short! 4th and a foot....

STOPPED!!!!!!!!!! No......Billick called a timeout!!!! The whole defense collapsed after that one. That was the game. Holy shit.

STOPPED AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! No.....false start. 4th and 6! That's even worse.

"Pretty much the game on the line here folks."- Jaws

You think??? Brady back....he has all day!!! He runs it for the first down to the twenty. Add another five on an illegal contact to the 18. Maroney stopped in the backfield but spins out of Ray Lewis' tackle....five yards.

TIPPED!!!!!! Pick it off!!! It hits the turf. Good lord. 3rd and 5......Incomplete!!!!!!! 4th and 5. This is it......

Timeout Pats. Here we go!!!!!!

Incomplete!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLDING ON THE D!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Touchdown Pats! Brady to Gaffney!!! Wait he bobbled it....challenge that. An unsportsmanlike on Bart Scott who threw the officials flag into the stands. That's hilarious and stupid as hell.

NO WAY!!!! The play is confirmed. That ball was moving on the way out of bounds. That's BS. Another penalty on an offsides and the Pats will be kicking off from Ravens territory.

27-24 Pats and Bart Scott is trying to kill a referee. Jesus Christ you still have a chance to tie it. Way to go nuts Bart Scott....good lord. The Pats are kicking from the Ravens 35.....I've never seen that before ever.

Baltimore ball at their own 20. Boller to Musa Smith on the screen for a first and they DON'T CALL TIMEOUT.....what the hell are they doing?!?!? They wasted 20 seconds!!!! This collapse is just terrible. Pats call a timeout....14 seconds left.

Boller throws it in the middle of the field and it's incomplete. Boller to the ENDZONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CAUGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But short!!!!!! Clayton on the catch but he's tackled at the two. Good lord. How could this travesty end any other way.

Well that was a fun one huh? I feel sick for the Ravens. I hate them but that defense stopped them twice on 4th downs only to have a penalty and a called timeout give the Pats second chances and they capitalize.

I couldn't even keep up with the comments so I'll sort through them while pulling videos. They'll be up before the end of the night.

Ugh. Thanks for watching and commenting and it's the Mike Vick Bowl next week. Double ugh.

Can someone explain to me what an impatient runner is...

Is that someone who runs in to the line blindly, results be damned?

I have the ESPN feed on and I already want to send Tony Korny over the Snake River in Evel's jet...without a parachute.

I think Jaws just jizzed in his corduroys with the Willie McGahee run.

Maybe he could punch tony in the face with a burst of positive emotion at a Musa Smith TD run.

E Buzz said...

HW - I think "impatient runner" would be someone who doesn't wait for his blocks to get set-up or doesn't read the play well enough to cut back effectively.

Um, like Maroney, for example.

I was thinking of Willie Parker, who does that shit sometimes.

If I were a lineman and a 215lb guy was continually running straight into my lower back, helmet first, over and over, I'd be a little pissed.
