Monday Night Football Live-Blog; Pats-Ravens Pregame/1st Half

The Week 13 Monday Nighter is upon us and I finally get Brady! I'm sick of S2N live-blogging all of his games and it's about time!!! The fun gets underway whenever Emmitt starts talking crazy talk and it appears that's already....

"[Adrian Peterson] is redefining the way teams defend the running ability."- Emmitt Smith (Via Sam)

Wow Mercury Morris is a special guy. It's a good thing the Dolphins won all those games because he wouldn't have any friends at all. Good lord.

Whoa. The wind saved that one. The Field Goal is Good and the Ravens have a TD lead on the Unbeatable Patriots....

10-3.

More on Mercury Morris (Construda)

I'll have the video up soon.

Stu Scott is missing from the set again today, and we've got Wendi Nix as the on field reporter before the game. I miss you Stu. No one handles Emmitt like you. Sal Pal can't hold a candle to you.

Is there a Led Zepplin album coming out tomorrow? That's all they're playing in the pregame.

Whoa Belichick looks especially Hobo-like tonight. It's a ridiculously windy night so he's sporting the headband thing that covers the year. Jaws is harping on his Randy Moss taking plays off thing now.

Oh nice, the Patriots line shopping at Bass Pro. Shooting a bow and arrow down a halfway actually looks like fun. Matt Light is the winner....good shooting.

Anyone catch Emmitts math? When he talked about the how the Cardinals confused his Cowboys "with 3 down linemen, 2 linebackers and 5 DB's". Uh Emmitt that's only 10 pal. (Via Steve)

Redskins-esque. Belichick and Steve Young both look to be struggggling in this weather. They both look sickly.

Why do they even bother to pick the game if everyone's picking the Pats. Someone made a comment earlier today that we wouldn't want the Pats to go undefeated because they would be so damn annoying. Well I think they're already annoying and they're nowhere close to how annoying the 72 Dolphins are.

Wow that moment of silence was tough to watch. Ray Lewis was seemed ready to breakdown. Lavar Arrington's speech earlier today also was a tough one to watch.
____________________________________

That was a weird and creepy intro. Tirico tells us that Belichick is from Annapolis and like many of you already know....he went to my same high school! Hail Annapolis High!!!

Pats ball. 5 yard pass to Welker to start the game. Brady to Welker again first down. This is going to get repetitive. Hey a run! Maroney gets nothing on that one. Brady gets about 4 minutes in the pocket and hits Stallworth down the sideline for a huge gain and a face mask penalty.

A run by Maroney gets a few, but a defensive 12-men penalty makes it 1st and 5. Suggs sacks Brady but he cheated to do so. Offsides. First Down and 1 at the 5.

Maroney gets that yard and it will be first and goal now from the twoish yard line. Play action to Watson....broken up by Ray Lewis. Great play, but you're going to have to do it 3 more times. Make that 2....Evans runs it and gets nothing. Timeout Ravens.

Wow! Brady had even longer to throw that one and Watson just dropped it in the back of the endzone. FG attempt from Gostkowski. Great stand there by the Ravens.

3-0 Pats.

"Brady has mobility like no other quarterback, apparently." (Via MannysHeadStash)

Mike Vick has nothing on him, er Jeff Garcia has nothing on him.

McGahee opens with a 9 yard run and follows it with another 6 for a first down.

"It's way to early to say what I'm gonna say. Maybe this is the night."- Tony Kornheiser

Uh okay Tony.

A penalty on the Ravens take them back five and McGahee runs for a couple. 2nd and 12...screen to McGahee gets two yards. Incomplete and the Ravens are punting.

Michele tells us it's windy....no shit Michele. Those of us in the area who went outside in the past five minutes aren't leaving again anytime soon. I don't envy you tonight.

Brady incomplete, Maroney for nothing.....3rd and long....Incomplete! Rolle batted it down and the mighty Pats go 3 and out. Amazing. If this game ends 3-0 like last week's game I'm quitting this site.

McGahee for zippy, Incomplete, and.....Holy Cow! A huge play to Darling!!! The Ravens longest play from scrimmage ends up in the Red Zone! I'm shocked. There also should have been a face mask penalty as Boller rolled out but no call.

"If they get a Touchdown here a lot more people will be sticking around than we originally thought."- Tony Kornheiser

McGahee is running like a gazelle in between Patriots and picks up another first. First and Goal at the nine. No gain on first for Willis. Mason gets a catch at the four and is met by Vrabel. 3rd and Goal.....

TOUCHDOWN RAVENS!!! Boller to Mason....beautiful pass in traffic....

7-3 Ravens.

Is tonight the night? Ray, Ed Reed, and McGahee in the pregame were intense.

Pats ball at the 25....And a sack!!! Ivy gets to Brady. 2nd and 16. Maroney for five and it's third and long for the Pats. That's the end of the first and we've got ourselves a game.

Brady floats one to Gaffney and he's open! He drops it. There was a penalty anyway and the Pats go 3 and out again!

Ravens ball at their 35. Hey a Buddy Ryan sighting and he's in a blanket.

"I played for Buddy Ryan."- Jaws
"Did you knit him that blanket."- Tony Kornheiser

Boller hits Mason for a twenty yarder and the Ravens are into Pats territory! McGahee for two, but he follows with a huge run on 2nd down. 20 more yards for Willis. Another run on first down but Willis gets only a yard. Boller had Mason on the deep out but the wind caused it to sail out of bounds. 3rd and 9....Musa Smith runs for two. The wind is too much for Stover and the Ravens will go for it.....

Got it!!!!! Boller to Mason on the sideline as Kyle got blasted as he threw that one. First down.

"I like how they're blaming Boller's inaccuracy on the wind...instead of how he's Kyle Boller." (Via NHZ)

Good point. Incomplete on first down and a run for nothing on second and it's 3rd and 9 for the Ravens. Quick out to Wilcox and that's short of the first down. A Field Goal attempt upcoming for the Ravens and Hobbs is hurt. Where's Troy Brown? They just signed him again....get him a uni!

FG is good after the wind guided it in and the Ravens have a TD lead on the Unbeatables....

10-3

Short squib kick is picked up by Heath Evans and returned to the 40. Nice run by Maroney is followed by a long completion to Stallworth....Pats going no huddle. 8 yard pass leaves it at 2nd and 2 and Maroney picks it up. 1st down at the 20.

Brady floats one to Moss in single coverage but it's incomplete. Brady to Welker gets 7 and it's 3rd and short....

Moss catches it after a juggle and it's incomplete, but there's a flag on the play. Holding on the Ravens, and that'll kill you. 1st and Goal. Brady goes to Moss for 5, and on 2nd down McAllister just tackles Moss in the endzone...interference and a first down at the two.

Vrabel's in and you know they're going to him. They do and it's incomplete. Finally someone figured it out.

TOUCHDOWN PATS! Heath Evans on the run. That was easy....

10-10.

"He looks like my paper boy."- Tony Kornheiser on the Patriots young coach.

McGahee runs for a few and then a nice completion to Mason...no incomplete. It hit the turf. Ravens punt. Good coverage by the Ravens and the Pats get it at their own 32.

Kevin Faulk picks up four followed by an incomplete pass from Brady...3rd and 5...Pass to Watson and a great open field tackle by Winborne to stop the big TE. Pats punt again.

Ravens ball at their 12. Musa Smith picks up six and that's the two minute warning.

The punter with three punts....that's more than he had all year. He may have to sue for workman's comp."- Tony Kornheiser

(In my best Terry Bradshaw voice) Not Funny Tony! Not Funny.

Musa gets nothing on 2nd and it's 3rd and 2. Smith again and he's blowed up by Junior Seau. Loss of two and the Ravens will be punting to the Pats with 1:13 left after a NE timeout.

Deep ball to Moss!!! The pass it short and Ed Reed gains up the ground. Of course Jaws and Tirico say it was the wind.

PICKED! ED REED!!! And he's returning it into Pats territory.....fumbles!!! Pats get the ball back at their own 30. How do you like that? Patriots run out the clock and there's some pushing and shoving. Good half.

10-10.

Anyone catch Emmitts math? When he talked about the how the Cardinals confused his Cowboys "with 3 down linemen, 2 linebackers and 5 DB's".

Uh Emmitt that's only 10 pal.

And ya Mercury Morris is a dick and Ithink he'll end up being someone's bitch at the end of the year.

Maybe I am looking for things about ESPN to criticize but concerning the moment of silence they show (1) Bill Bellicheck like they are looking for something to criticize and (2) One of the Ravens who was clearly having trouble holding his emotions in check so they keep the camera on him. Seemed a little classless to me.

Again, maybe I am being a little nitpicky but ESPN brings that out in people.

The guy who turned MNF into a mess is Mark Shapiro. Now he's off running a company whose stock price is two bucks. Do you think any writers could figure this out?
Oh, I almost forgot --- he's the guy who hired all those imbeciles on shows like Around The Horn to buy good press.
Silly me.....

Fox did the same thing. Where were you. Espn never critizes hobo, because his dick is in their mouth.

Shapiro was gone before mnf

Really, more shocking than Boller playing well is that punching bags Samari Rolle and Corey Ivy have acquitted themselves reasonably well.

Kornheiser, of course being a total creep, was talking about McDaniels, the offensive coordinator. Yeah Tony, he's the coordinator for a great offense, but he looks like your paper boy. Great (expletive deleted) analysis, you hack.

Oh, and sorry if this is a double post, but why in the world did Belichick/McDaniel think they could get away with a Vrabel-Ed Reed match-up.

Great tackle!

I have a horrible confession to make. I laughed out loud at a Bermanism:

"...and Reuben Droughns goes ON and ON and ON..."

I feel like i need to go take a shower.

matt - I thought that was pretty good too. I've kind of backed off my hatred of Berman: I've gone full circle really to being back at the point where I can enjoy his silly names. You just have to not take the guy seriously. Remember, he's not really an analyst.

As a Ravens fan, I'll echo the "Good half" statement.

So you went to Annapolis High, AA? I went to school about 15 minutes down Rt. 2 at Southern. Small world.
