Your College Football Announcing Schedule Week 12

Tuesday, November 13, 2007

Here's your weekly installment of Announcing Team locations. Of course Kirk Herbstreit is on the OSU-Michigan game, and Pam Ward is finally not calling a Big Ten game.

This week's schedule is NOT brought to by SI's Cheerleader of the Week because she's from Ohio State. But just know that the five people she'd have dinner alive or dead are the following: Kelly Ripa, Nancy Grace, Brady Quinn, Stephen Colletti and Lucille Ball. (Wouldn't expect anything else).

YES!!! I'm going to be at the same game as Lou Holtz tomorrow night!!! Since I sit about ten rows down from the press box, I better bring an umbrella.

Maybe I'll also get to hear Rece Davis talk about these two MAC pro-grims.

1. Here comes another weekend of Verne calling LSU "Louisiana State University." Of course, he'll probably call Ole Miss "The University of Mississippi" too.

2. For the second year in a row, ESPN doesn't air a primetime SEC game on the second week of November. I don't know why (besides contracts). Only one SEC game is nationally televised on the second-to-last week of the year?

3. NBC should just swallow the bullet and not air a game this week.

Brent Musburger got his Christmas gift early this year --- slobbering over the Sweater Vest with Herby.

Looks like we've got a bitter Georgia fan.
First, it's the third Saturday in November.
Second, last year's Saturday night game was Rutgers being upset by Cincinnati. If I'm not mistaken, CBS had Auburn-Alabama; so we should've been subjected to LSU-Ole Miss or Vandy-Tennessee instead?
Finally, Kentucky-Georgia is intriguing and the only game that could be switched out for BC-Clemson or WV-Cincy, but those games have BCS implications; not just division titles hopes, like UK-UGA.
Sorry for the rant.

Actually, I'm not a bitter Georgia fan. But I wonder why ESPN doesn't have an SEC game this week.

But they have THREE Big East games this week, and two of them are shit.

ESPN has an SEC game every week. It seems weird that ESPN isn't airing them two years in a row down the homestretch.

Alabama-Auburn is next weeks' ESPN Saturday night game (as it stands now).

I feel sorry for Pete Medhurst and Scott Zolak. The depleted NIU squad versus the point-a-minute Navy squad? Uh oh.

Alabama-Auburn is a CBS game....

No it's not. It's on ESPN at 8.

Wait, the 3 stooges have the primetime game? Ugh.

Sherri Blackledge better make an appearance in Morgantown!

Sorry, Alabama/Auburn WAS a CBS game...they're supposed to have a doubleheader next week, so I assume they go to Tennessee/Kentucky?

Correct. CBS has three games next weekend, actually. LSU/ARK on Friday, and then TENN/UK and FLA/FSU on Saturday.

NO Michigan people complaining about "Herbie" being biased on their game? WOW! This blog is soft.

"NO Michigan people complaining about "Herbie" being biased on their game? WOW! This blog is soft."

Herbstreit hasn't called a Michigan senior an underachiever or a waste of talent (Breaston) on his radio show...yet.
There's still time.

Wow- just discovered this site...very good stuff. But I have to ask, is this owned by Pheel Seems? There are 30 AAs listed as receiving votes, and yet the bumbler from the Giants and CBS is NOT among them??? He should TOP the list. Granted, Nantz, with that velvet voice, sounds pretty smooth (if not substantive) and can cover a flaw or two in his redneck partner, but please!! Pheel has never paired a subject with a predicate. And that Mister Moose voice, the incessant stammering, the goofy NASCAR accent, the inability to articulate a cogent thought without running on and on....why is he not the KING of AAs?? I live in New England, home of arguably one of the premier NFL teams in the last few years. Yet it seems half our games are announced by this doofus who makes Jethro (Jed Clampett's nephew) sound like Winston Churchill. I know it's only football, but Gawd! If it weren't for the audio delay, I'd hit mute and listen to the radio broadcast. So now I watch the Pats handily win 52-6, and I'm so agitated from trying to decipher what this bufoon has muttered for 3 hours, I still want to kick my dog. I hereby start the "Draft Pheel" campaign. He's the king of the AAs.

Misississippi? I know it's a long name, but didn't you ever play backyard football with rushes on M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-I (and every kid laughs on the IPP part)? Sorry, I'm a dork.

Musburger gets the Ohio State/Michigan game?

WHO HERE'S SHOCKED?

Actually, it IS a little surprising that Musburger and Herbstreit are doing the Ohio State-Michigan game. They have done the Saturday 8pm game every week this year, so it's a bit unusual that they're doing a noon game. Does that mean that Herbie's actually going to leave the Gameday set early to make it into the stadium? Will Musburger just do the beginning of the game by himself?

As for Herbstreit being biased about Michigan, I've got to defend him (I have no Big 10 connections myself). Yes, Herbstreit trashed Michigan on a Columbus radio show. Yes, there's been the picture of Herbstreit jumping up and down on the sideline during a game. But on air, on ESPN, he's NEVER shown a bias that I've seen towards Ohio State. He IS an OSU alum, and I have no problem with him being an OSU fan when he's not on ESPN.

Similar to the season’s first show at Virginia Tech, the first half of the program will originate from outside the stadium while Fowler, Corso, Herbstreit and Howard will move inside the stadium for the remainder of the show.
