FOX Switches Up Announcing Teams And Your Week 6 Schedule

Wednesday, October 10, 2007

Here are your Week #6 Announcing Assignments for CBS and Fox brought to you by the lovely New England Patriots' Cheerleaders......Ta Da!

There's a nice little shakeup this week because of Joe Buck's move to Baseball and I think if you're like me, you welcome the change. Albert and Aikman will probably turn out to be a great team, but putting Vasgersian with Johnston and Siragusa??? I'm expecting something crazy to happen!

1PM Games:

CBS

Tennessee @ Tampa Bay - Greg Gumbel, Dan Dierdorf
Cincinnati @ Kansas City - Kevin Harlan, Rich Gannon
Houston @ Jacksonville - Gus Johnson, Steve Tasker
Miami @ Cleveland - Ian Eagle, Solomon Wilcots

FOX

Washington @ Green Bay - Kenny Albert, Troy Aikman
Philadelphia @ NY Jets - Matt Vasgersian, Daryl Johnston, Tony Siragusa
Minnesota @ Chicago - Dick Stockton, Brian Baldinger
St. Louis @ Baltimore - Sam Rosen, Tim Ryan

4PM Games:

CBS

New England @ Dallas - Jim Nantz, Phil Simms
Oakland @ San Diego - Dick Enberg, Randy Cross

FOX

Carolina @ Arizona - Ron Pitts, Tony Boselli

What the hell is CBS thinking sending the #1 team to cover New England vs. Dallas?

Just kidding. No big surprises here, except that Albert and Vasgersian got the call-ups. Seriously, why did Stockton get bumped down?

Just looking at this list shows me that Fox has a serious lack of talent in the play-by-play booth.

I'm welcome for what?

Hey NFC East haters, is it OK that the #1 team is going to the WAS/GB game??? Poor babies.

Maybe you haven't noticed, but 3 of the 4 best teams in the NFC are in the NFC East (yes, I'm counting the Giants).

Didn't I send you the link to the announcing assignments?

Good Lord, gmoney, nobody said the NFC East sucks. But you cannot excuse Fox sending Buck and Aikman to cover the Cowboys/Rams game two weeks ago.

And besides, those nationally televised "showdowns" between the Eagles and the Redskins and the Eagles and the Giants were examples of NFL football at its finest.

And Tampa Bay, Seattle, and perhaps even Arizona and (pre-Delhomme injury) Carolina would challenge your theory. We'll see how "talented" the NFC East is when they start playing New England.

Who have the Giants and the Redskins beaten exactly? Themselves, the Eagles, and the Jets and Bills--whose only combined victory has come head-to-head? Oh, I forgot the Lions.

Oh sorry Mook....I had the same information as you. I linked last week because you reminded me.

Even though I'm a Redskins fan...I'm with Anon on this one. That 'Boys-Rams game was just a ridiculous call.

One correction. Dolphins for Bills.

I've been groggy ever since Stockton called the Cubs' NLDS games and now I get to sleep through the Bears game thanks to his call- Mrs. Anonymous will be happy.

Kenny Albert is by far the least talented Albert. Won't be looking forward to that one.

Nantz and Simms might as well be the Patriots marquee announcers. And I wouldn't mind it one bit.

New England, the Patriots and me
Cruising all the way through the AFC

Let's not "crown their ass" just yet. That 7-17 combined record of their opponents isn't exactly indicative of what the Pats will see come January -- or Sunday. (Ugh, I can't believe I'm forced to root for the Cowboys. I feel so dirty)

Does anyone else vote for Brian Baldinger as the number one moron on the air today? This dope never gets anything right and has that in-your-face attitude that only a dumbass ex-jock possesses.
This clown went to Duke?? What, Duke Middle School?

I actually know a former CN8 director who worked with Brian on college football games in the mid-late '90s. Said director cited that Baldy was a mess and screwed up the opens and wasn't playing with a full deck. Anon, you are not alone in your voting.

hardscores,

You didn't just bring up the "New England, The Patriots and Me" song from pre-Super Bowl XX, did you? I fondly remember the Robert Urich cameo since he was in his "Spenser for Hire" days.

Great era for team songs - Chicago's "Super Bowl Shuffle", LA Raiders "We Wear the Silver, We Wear the Black", the Colts "We're the Colts, We Admit It", and NFL Kickers "We are the kickers we kick the ball we play the ball, but no Green Bay, brrr Green Bay."

If you're a Phins fan you have to wonder what you did wrong:

1) Ricky decides to try to smoke his way around the world.

2) Saban gigs you

3) NFL decides to send you to London for a HOME game

4) TrINT Green gets knocked into retirement

.... and now they are forced to listen to the linguistic stylings of Ian Eagle and Solomon Wilcots.

I reckon that the origins of this Wrath From The Football Gods can be traced to Ace Ventura.

IF you think Matt Vasgersian is a bad football guy, you never heard him do Padre games down here in SD. Him and "Fat Cat" Mark Grant are the worst. The SDSU announcers on public access are much better. During baseball season, we are thankful on the weekends when FOX gives the city of San Diego the weekend off from his incessant yelling and stupid remarks by taking him for one of the national games for baseball.

Gus Johnson is the most annoying commentator in all of the NFL - he makes a punt sound like its the most impressive play since the Music City Miracle.

first time on your site.....great job. I'm puzzled by lack of ESPN, those Sunday night destroyers of games. Cornholer especially.
