Monday Night Football Week #2 Live-Blog: Washington at Philly 4th Quarter

13-9 Skins as we start the 4th. Washington ball at the Eagles' 32...Second Down and Seven.

11:15- Mike Tirico just officially tries to jinx the Skins with the talk of their record, and I'm going to fire bomb his cubicle!

Nothing on 2nd for Betts, and then Chris Cooley powers for a much needed first down. Great play by Campbell, to his credit settled down a hell of a lot after the Cooley TD. I think Tirico might have mentioned this.

Another great play from Campbell on the rollout as he hits Yoder on the run for the first down on 3rd and long. Dawkins is down for the Eagles.

TOUCHDOWN PORTIS as Sellers leads the way!

20-9 Washington Redskins

"Backbreaker"- Mike Tirico, A bit too soon there Champ.

"Hey all, just arrived to the live blog so I don't know if you guys hit on this but, I think Jaws is overrated. Or maybe he just should do Eagles games anymore. During this whole game he sounds like Joe Theismann when he did 'Skins games doesn't he? I understand that when you play for a team it is kinda in you but it really bothers me during the telecast. I feel like I should listening to the Eagles radio broadcast."- Brett

Instigator Brett chimes in, but I'm actually going to agree with him here. It seems like the whole booth got very subdued on the Portis TD run, and they are STILL trying to take the McNabb angle. Thanks Brett.

11:25- First down for the Eagles and they put together two first downs with the second going to "White Lightning". McNabb tries to hit "WL" again and overthrows him. (I refuse to jinx C Rogers by highlighting him in this spot).

The Eagles try to pass again and Tirico let's us know that's the 3rd Redskins sack of the game (something I never thought would happen). Philly's going for it on 4th down and this is huuuuuuge!

Timeout Eagles.

"Jaws, I know you think that the Eagles receivers suck and can't get separation. But how much of it is because of the Redskins' secondary? You said earlier that they have 4 first round draft picks back there. It can't be all on the receivers."- Anon

Great point Anon....I think Jaws is actually regressing this game while Tirico and Tony are doing much better.

11:29- McNabb just wings a pass by Carlos Rogers who was a step too late and Avant (from Michigan) picks up the first down.

Westbrook gets another seven, but gets stuffed on 2nd down and it's 3rd and 2.....Timeout Redskins and they waste one there.

B-Dawkins superhero strength does him no good against Captain Chaos and he's probably out for the game. ARE is out with cramps as well, which is huge also.

11:35- An out to Westbrook is met by Torrence and 2nd down is a McNabb incompletion. Third down. A completion to Tapeh and a missed tackle almost hurts the Skins....luckily newly acquired Fletcher-Baker makes the follow up tackle. FG attempt for the Eagles.....

20-12 Redskins.

"All night Jaws bitches about the receivers. Now they come back from commercial and he says that they don't want an elite receiver because they like to spread the ball around. Wha?"- Anon

"Yea he has not been objective at all in this game. He is defending McNabb's play tonight and he is sayin that the Eagles organization has done well enough with aquiring receivers. COME ON JAWS!! you are better than that. Hell TK is making more sense than you tonight!"- Brett

11:41- Betts picks up three on first down followed by an.....

OMG! Campbell throws it out of the stadium as Santana Moss was ready to burn Philly to the ground. (FUCK!)

No blocking on a third down screen and that was just a ridiculous waste of a play.....all risk and no reward. Punt to Mahe who fair catches his 20th punt of the game.

Tony K. goes into the same exact monologue on Gibbs he had before the game. I guarantee you no one new is watching this game.

11:45- A broken play shovel pass to McNabb and it's 2nd and 1 for the no-huddling Eagles. First down Westbrook to his own 34. Avant catches another 1st.

"Donovan is an excellent quarterback out of the pocket."- Jaws, that contradicts everything he said earlier in the night.

The f'ing Prevent isn't working! McNabb overthrows Lewis and Laron Landry just misses the pick. The Eagles run a TERRIBLE draw on third down and they're stuck with a fourth and five. Awful call there. Timeout Eagles.

The Skins Blitz Everyone and their mother and Reggie Brown exploits one on one coverage for a first down. Another quick first down and an incomplete pass on pressure from Sean Taylor brings us to the 2 minute warning (Ugh.....someone make a play).

"I can't understand Jaworski with Donovan's balls in his mouth."- RUTS

11:49- 2nd and 10 for the Eagles at the 13, and they hit Curtis for a 7 yarder. 3rd down and 6......Incomplete. McNabb should have nailed Curtis on that one. 4th and 6 and a final timeout for the Eagles....

(excuse me while I take this play off and just watch.)

Laron Landry just nails "White Lightning" on that crossing pass and the Skins have locked this one up (I'm screaming on the inside).

Your Final 20-12 Redskins. Let's put this boring game behind us and come back strong for Dallas-Chicago and S2N on Sunday Night and myself and the Titans-Saints matchup on Monday Night.

Thanks all for commenting and I'll have grading and analysis of Jaws crapping the bed tomorrow.

Cheers,
BP-AA

Sorry just had to add a few comments after the outro.....

"Alarming O.J. Audio. If it isn't him saying "I killed my wife," I don't care."- Anon

I don't care who you are.....that's funny....and true.

Also, Steve Young on the postgame couldn't come up with a one word description of the Redskins that Stu Scott posed to him.....he came up with "I don't know....Uhhh, efficient."

Emmitt Smith followed with "Poised" and made Steve Young look like the rest of the Monday Night Crew that couldn't come up with any talking points on the Skins tonight.

"Mostly invisible" Brandon Lloyd.

I guess that's sort of like "virtually spotless"

Yeah, this is a dog of a game. But you know what? Washington looks like about the 3rd best team in the NFC so far.

That's just pitiful.

The Eagles should put that woman into the game. Maybe they'd get more of a pass rush.

I Love Charles:

MT: Eagles should have won last week if not for special teams' mistakes.

CB: What the hell does that mean? If didn't eat so much I wouldn't be fat! I hate when people say we should have won!

My take on MNF's analysis of tonight's game:

--Eagles fans suck.

That is all.

Brett....I'm actually in agreement with you on this one. It seems like Tirico and Tony are doing better this game and Jaws is regressing.

Sep 17, 2007, 11:24:00 PM

Brett does have a good point. How much "in depth analysis" have you heard about the Redskins.

All I hear is Tirico say it's not McNabb's fault. Then I hear Jaws say it's McNabb's fault, but it's mostly the receivers' fault. And they all hate Eagles fans.

Meanwhile, the Redskins are driving down the field.

I will say, having watched the Eagles, that the receivers look better and get more separation when L.J. Smith is healthy and a credible threat.

McNabb throws one in the dirt.

And Tirico is officially out of excuses.

McNabb just threw the ball in the dirt and Jaws said it was a throw away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If a QB is thrwing the ball away it normally is in the bleachers.

Is Jaws on the Eagles Cap still?

I did see that, mookie.

This is one horrible production. And it didn't help that the game was so unbelievably boring.

That photo is frightening. It looks like Sam Kinison faked his death, went into hiding, and reemerged several years and thousands of Whoppers later.
