What Defines Progress?

Monday, March 12, 2007

This is your "belly laugh" post of the day. I normally try to stay away from General Sports News, but I haven't seen this anywhere yet. (Wait for it....Wait for it!)

Garden Chairman, James Dolan, will announce today that Isiah Thomas' "progress" has earned him an extension.

Oh man....I can't even fathom New York's reaction this morning.....

From New York Daily News....

Garden chairman James Dolan will announce today that Thomas has earned a contract extension. The news comes about nine months after Dolan fired Larry Brown and said that Thomas needed to demonstrate significant progress to return.

At 29-34, the Knicks are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference and only a half-game out of seventh.

For weeks, Thomas has hinted that he would be returning and Dolan said as much to the players last month during a pregame meeting in Utah. Dolan met with the Knicks players after center Eddy Curry, who has blossomed under Thomas, said that he would ask to be traded if Thomas did not come back.
It just blows my mind that New York has been in eighth place for 1 day after beating Washington and Dolan decides to pull this. What happens if (when) the Knicks tank down the stretch?

For my reaction please see below.....

OMFG, this is almost as funny as time Thomas bought the CBA. Can't these dudes just retire gracefully?

When I read this, I thought a simple Nelson-style "HA-HA!" would have sufficed, but no, that South Park video is correct.

"Oh, good, no one's gonna be thinking about me." - Billy King and Kevin McHale after they read the news.
