March Madness Live-Blog- Georgetown/Belmont

A favorite in most brackets, Georgetown looks to go inside early and often. Hopefully Belmont won't just "be happy to be here"

We're live from Winston-Salem....sorry the delay. The wind is blowing a bit, and the internet goes in and out. Bear with me.

4-2 Belmont early.

Okay.......and we're back!

Gtown is starting out slow. Belmont is hitting their shots early. Under 16 timeout.

9-4 Bruins

FYI- I've got Enberg and Bilas as my announcers for this one. Anyone got a dollar on Bilas mentioning Duke.

Great name for Belmont's center....Bommer Herndon. Belmont pushes the lead up to 7.

"Belmont's playing with house money"- Bilas

Simmons new crush (Jeff Green) hits two free throws. Belmont turns it over....Summers goes flying into a Belmont defender and that should have been a charge.

11-7 Belmont

Great pass from Sapp but Green can't handle it. The Hoyas are picking up some cheap fouls early. Bilas tells us Green is a sophomore, which is going to be irrelevant when he goes pro next year.

Tie game after a Roy Hibbert offensive rebound and a nice dish to Green for the bucket.

11-11...under 12 stoppage.

"He's not really a go-to guy, he's a go-through guy."....not exactly sure what that means? (Thanks OMDQ)

"We're here with an omnipresent Jay Bilas"- Enberg

Great hustle by Harris after Belmont turns the ball over yet again. He saved an easy bucket with a strip. Green scores again for GT, and you can feel the tide turning.

Anyone aware that there's a new How I Met Your Mother this Monday??? Didn't know that.

Green mounts a Bruin and picks up another cheap foul. He heads to the bench. Bilas makes a statement that I thought he was saying Belmont is so small you have to look below you.

15-11 Hoyas.....9 minutes left. High scoring game we've got.

Belmont was all over that last play, but somehow Gtown gets the ball back and Sapp hits a three. Hoyas on a 14-1 run now.

Crawford hits a three for the Hoyas and they're pulling away now.

So I thought I'd paint the scene for you here from beautiful Washington DC. Two TVs and Two computers going. Guinness is flowing, and the Juan Dixon jersey is on (put it on when MD was down 8....I'm not changing it for the whole tourney)

Hoyas with a ten point lead now with Hibbert and Green on the bench. B'mont in the 1-1. Belmont sticking with the zone which might not be a bad.....wait, nevermind Sapp hits a three. Hoyas by 12 5 minutes left.

Every March Coach K has a commercial out. ADs around the country are slowing getting pissed. It's like a recruiting video.

Harris hits a three for the Bruins.

"He loves to take you back-door after the timeouts"- Jay Bilas, Double Entendre alert!

32-23 with 4 minutes left.

grimey - my bracket has WSU, but if Oral wins, I reserve all rights to the headline: "Moral Oral Gives It To the Cougs Up The Wazzu." (Signal To Noise)

Moral Orel is the funniest damn show, and I can't wait for the ATHF movie.

Belmont cuts the lead to 7, and gets a steal down low. Patrick Ewing Jr. steals it right back though. Summers and 1, and Belmont just can't compete with the Hoyas' size.

Lead back to ten with 1 minute left.

"You'll find out why TV Guide calls Patrick Warrrrrrbarton hilarious"- DE, Thanks Dick.....thanks.

Wallace hits another three and that'll do it for the half....

38-25 Hoyas.

"Winner of this game will Flyyyy with the Eagles....Boston College"- DE

13 point lead for the Hoyas as my interest in this game is draining and I'm taking to just watching the scores up top. Score for Belmont cuts the lead to eleven.

Bilas uses his "that's why the window is there" quote for about the 7th time tonight. Lead back to 15 for Gtown and the Bruins are just chucking things up. Green hits a crazy double-pump jumper and gets fouled, but there's no call. Another missed three for Bmont and they've gone ice cold. Hibbert gets about 5 offensive rebounds and an and one....he'll go to the line.

46-27 GT with 16 to go.

So I just realized that I didn't fill in my picks for my "Family and Friends" bracket. That sucks....good thing I'm the commissioner so I'll rig it.

"There's Big John Thompson and he's a big influence on John Thompson the third"- DE, Umm yeah....he's his dad....I would hope so.

Hibbert just dwarfs the "whitewash" of Belmont. Jay Bilas calls Belmont a "mid-major"....sorry but I think I disagree.

49-29 with 13 to go.

Besides the MD/Davidson game all of these games are pretty low scoring.

"Hibbert with the touch and it nestles in"- DE, makes me want to take a nap.

"And like Jay Bilas the former Duke star he lays it in....Ohhhh Yeahhhhh."- DE, you had to hear it. It was the sexiest thing Enberg's ever said....so soft so dulcet.

"It's like your playing your dad in the driveway the way they get those 2nd chance points"- JB, Umm what?

Belmont "cuts" the lead to 22, and we're in garbage time now.

Wow...some random lady in the crowd has on light up blue glasses....pretty tacky.

55-33 Hoyas.

Does anyone remember this post? Well they just showed "mom jeans" on TV playing his Sexyphone for the Gtown band.....highlight of my day so far.

Wow....someone from Belmont got whacked and he's bleeding all over the floor.

"We might be a couple of seconds as they wipe up the drops of hemoglobin"- DE, Hahahahahaha.

Open shot for Harris and Belmont is on a run! The lead is only 24 now......

We find out that Boomer Herndon got his nickname because he like Boomer Esiason when he was younger. Good one, but not as good as trying to have your Mom rename you Ricky because you liked Ricky Henderson so much....I wonder who would have done that???

59-38 with 6 minutes left.

The roommate just wikipedia'ed Belmont and found out that DJ Qualls is an alum. "I had sex......WITH A GIRL!!!!"

Whoa! How the hell is Penn winning???

Turtle!!!!

Jay Bilas just called last year's UCLA team a one-seed.....pretty sure they were a two.

And yet another odd comment from Bilas.....he said Belmont expected to win because "of a close game last year" against UCLA. Yeah 24 points is a close game Jay.

Dizdarevic is in for Georgetown!!!!!!!!! Whoo! You know the game is over now. Georgetown by 32.

Great games from Hibbert and Green for Gtown....but it IS Belmont.

That's your game. Georgetown wins 80-55.....now switch to the Penn game CBS!!! Ex has the GW/Vandy game and I'll be back for the VCU/Duke contest. CHEERS!

These announcers are certainly getting a head start on preparing us for the Belmont upset.

Patrick Ewing still plays for the Hoyas? Did he get a birth certificate from the Dominican Baseball League?

"He's not really a go-to guy, he's a go-through guy."

That sounds funny.

"You'd like to see a player use the glass...that's why it's there."

I thought it was there so the rim wasn't forced to levitate.

I'm in a race to finish grilling two cheeseburgers before Penn tips off. This is the real March Madness.

I have G'Town in the finals of a lot of my brackets, so as much as I'd like to see a 2-15 upset...

RUTS - I'm humming the "Mission: Impossible" theme in your honor.

I'm going to hang here for the Oral Roberts/WSU game... although it's tempting to watch this game, considering I haven't lost a Final Four team on the first day in a while.

By the way, Oral Roberts/WSU just provided my first "make me say innapropriate things at work" moment. WSU gets a gift stolen-inbound-pass dunk to end the half only down 2.

Get out of my head, Coach K!

I have WSU as a Sweet 16 team, and in hindsight, I don't know why. The only reason I have for picking them is that ESPN fluff piece on Derek Low getting the Hawaiian tattoos on his legs.

By the way, the James Brown Experience isn't that bad, but JB seems to be saving most of his enthusiasm for the CBS promos. Those are in his wheelhouse.

JB just did the exact same "Patrick Warburton is hilarious" promo. Aww yeah.
