Familiar Faces In New Places

The rumors that Stephen A. Smith was headed to Sports Center were/are true. I missed his first appearance, but was told that it "wasn't that bad". So S.A.S. is officially an anchor......congrats.

Also, wanted to mention that AA has learned that Baseball Tonight Analyst Tino Martinez is gone from the show. Apparently the leave is on good terms and mutual agreement (yeah just like every girl that broke up with me was a "mutual" break up).

Personally I say good riddance. Tino was a great player, but he was horrible on-air. Now it's only a year until he's hired to do on-field stuff for the YES Network.

Doesn't 'wasn't that bad' sound kind of ominous if we're talking about sports anchoring?

I saw the SAS SportsCenter debut, and I thought he handled it pretty well. Not too much screaming, and no attempts at cracking lame jokes (like most SportsCenter anchors try to do.)

Tino is assistant baseball coach at USF in Tampa for his brother-in'law the head coach.
