ESPN Radio Host Brings Back the Word Monkey

Thursday, December 07, 2006

Not since 1983 has a radio/TV host dare to go near the word "monkey", but someone in the lovely town of Baltimore has decided to bring it back.

I barely get the ESPN Radio feed from B-More, but on air radio host Anita Marks decided Howard Cossell's infamous phrase needed to be used again.

Marks, on Baltimore's CBS-owned sports talker WJFK-AM, ESPN Radio 1300, referred to Shawne Merriman, a San Diego Chargers linebacker who is under suspension for steroid use, as a "juice monkey."- DCRTV
Marks' Response.....
"on the air yesterday that she uses the remark to refer to steroid users regardless of their color."
Really? Is Juice Monkey a phrase that is commonly used to describe steroid users? Come on Anita.

Seriously though....I probably could have predicted this if I had seen that trashy tatoo on her na-na ahead of time.

Sports Host upsets Blacks (Baltimore Sun)

(Umm.....Baltimore Sun. Using the term "blacks" in the title of your article.....yeah.....I'd stay away from that)

They simulcast her show on MASN...it's terrible. Not John Thompson terrible, but close.

And once we're done killing her for this comment, can we please go back and crucify Michael Irvin? Why the hell does he still have a job?

seriously, she's a dunce.

I swear, one time she got the terms "lotto" (the lottery game) and "lot of" mixed up....

She uses the term "agreeance" instead of "agreement".

Only a crappy, crappy station like 1300 would even have given her a job.

Agreeance! Fred Durst would be proud.

I have the "pleasure" of listening to this dumb c-word on sports radio in Baltimore. She is the reason there will never be a female president. She does 3 shows during the week - Ray Lewis, Willis McGahee and Jonathan Ogden. To listen to her talk about McGahee, you'd swear they were an item. Her knowledge of sports is minimal, and she actually asked Ray Lewis once what it was like to be in the huddle with Steve McNair. Even my 12 year old piped up and said "how would Ray Lewis know, Mom - he plays defense."

She is so horrible it infuriates me to listen to her. She gushes over certain players she has a crush on like "Willie" and others who she interviews. If someone won't come on her show than she'll complain. She always lobs softball questions, and talks about giving a lap dance to some players and who she thinks is cute...Baltimore sports fans deserve better. She knows NOTHING about Baltimore sports! Everything she equates regarding the history of the Ravens happened in the year or two this newbie came to Baltimore. Leave Anita! Hopefully ESPN1300 will realize the mistake and not bring her back!

After using the term "drink the Koolaid" for about the 100 time in the same show. Someone asked her if she knew what the term meant. She answered, yes. It's when you are in a dance club and some guy is all over you. You say to him, you are all up in my grill and you don't even know what flavor I am....huh? It's a good thing she's got that body.
